It looks very good, though for your information, currently this base is in a side-scrolling perspective, and i'm sure your game will be using a 3/4ths perspective. So you may want to rework that if you wish, or not if that is what you are going for.

I don't know if he edited the pic or not but I don't see a side-scrolling perspective.
It looks good, however I'm not a fan of the black outlining. |

Just read AmonR's tutorial on this:

I would classify it as such, maybe the only thing in 3/4ths perspective is the chara's eyes. Though his legs and arms are from a straight view, also things like his waist should be angled down, not in a flat line, and the headband is looking straight at the camera. These are all minor details, but a lot of little things can greatly improve the perspective of this.
For example: That's a character icon by TheMonkeyDidIt on Step BYOND by Deadron. It shows a near-perfect way of showing a 3/4ths perspective on a human. Though that is if you want to take it all the way, and since it is very realistic, you can lose key features like facial details etc. So a great cartoony mix between these two would be any of the 2D Zelda games. Perspective is a key detail in keeping the same style throughout the entire game(Which in my opinion, is the best graphical achievement. As long as all of the art matches, then it doesn't matter how well-done it is). And you can do any minor changes like I listed above to help with that. Although it looks good so far! |

BAH. You people and your irrational dislike for black outlines. When it comes to games (especially) black outlines are marvelous. They help contrast between the sprites and the backgrounds to produce a clean look. You just need to use them properly.
