So, ATP Host decided to shutdown without notice.
No explanation, they're just gone.
As such, I didn't know that was happening, so, again, my server was shutdown and I lost all of the save files.
I wonder how many times this will keep happening.
It is quite a pain.
I think it's ridiculous. He could've at least emailed me to let me know they were going to shutdown and erase all of my data.
Thanks again, ATP Host.
...
Anyways, I'm of course not going to use any service they provide or anyone BYOND-specific.
After-all, I don't need something BYOND specific, I just need a server.
I have decided to try a VPS from prgmr.com.
I would probably already have a server up, but I messed up.
I'm new to this stuff. >.<
They needed an RSA Public key for SSH, so I gave them that, but I didn't realize, at the time, that I also needed to save a private key to access the server.
So, I made some new keys and I emailed support requesting to change the public key on their end, so hopefully that gets changed and I can get to the server, soon.
Let's see how long that takes.
Update: Server Now Up
When ATP pulled my server without notice I lost not only a game server, but a master server listing and a whole website. It happened right during the hub update so I lost a lot of potential players at the time as well.

the only thing ever happened with my atp servers was yesterday, 1 crashed, withouth a reason, but the other servers kept online and I did not lose any file :/

And with Slicehost, they emailed me a root password and I was good to go. If on the odd chance I forgot to change that root password and lost the email with it contained, I could rebuild my slice and get a new one (losing all data). This process takes roughly one minute. =D Well, you have to be smart for prgmr, apparently. They "don't assume you are stupid." Which is code for "we assume you know a lot of stuff about Linux." In any case, I don't know what I'm doing, and I messed up. I'm almost ready to just start a new account, with how long it's taking them to reply. Maybe the only fix is creating a new account. >.< If all I needed was a simple password instead of this complex security, then I wouldn't have this problem. I guess it's worth it for good security, though... I assume you haven't seen the ATP Host page, lately. |
Prgmr are currently solving their ARIN registration, so the guys are pretty busy.

Well before they were blaming all their issues on the service provider, and were bragging about how awesome this new one was going to be.
I wonder what the excuse will be this time. |

Though your prices are much nicer than mine. Regardless, I'll never leave Slicehost unless I absolutely have to. =)
