I finally, properly port forwarded my router allowing me to host games again..Wow, its been some years now...With plenty frustration and piecing together certain info from a few google searches; it turns out the problem was that my DSL modem had to be configured also (it too is a router, so I'm told). So basically I enabled IP Passthrough, port forwarded the modem, and then my router, while also IP releasing and renewing, and bam games appear live when I host. To put it lightly, I'm pretty much overjoyed at this very moment(I've gone through MUCH frustration with this). But anyways, seeing as I could hardly find a suitable amount of info, I thought I'd post the links I used with the hopes of helping someone else with a similar situation.
Configuring your DSL modem
Enabling IP Passthrough
Note: DHCP Reservation can be used instead of setting a static ip

Hmm, nice find, I never set up the NAT stuff, and that appears to be why I can't host. I won't be able to go into that for a couple weeks, though, I just don't have enough time before the end of the school year to mess around with something for hours.
