I created Byond applications several long months ago in a attempt to stir up development of Applications. I let the guild fall behind in updates and such pretty quickly after forming the guild. However in it's short time the guild did offer a place of refuge for Applications that do not fit in the "Big Five".
I would like to try and breathe some life back into this guild and the idea of stand alone Applications back into the Byond community. So I encourage developers and the community alike to bring some ideas to the table.
So once again let me go over what it takes for a Application to be accepted into the Applications Guild:
1. All Applications must fall into two category's, Byond Utility's or Stand Alone applications.
2. All programs must have a "Helpful" help file.
3. All Stand Alone programs must include a "Created with BYOND" statement somewhere in the program via splash screen or about option.
4. All applications must be a in a usable state. Programs that are not complete in a semi-working state will not be listed, but accepted.
Thanks,
National Guardsmen

I was hoping this guild would get a post or two... I really need to look into making an program for this guild. I would really appreciate the coverage, Thanks. I have several Apps on the back burner right now I really need to finish. I wish more people would see that DM can be used for far more than games. What really has motivated me into reviving this guild is the work that Tsfreaks has done with his PopLava idea. Props to Tsfreaks for his outstanding work. |
I'm working on a martial art weapon training application. I'll be using it for youtube videos that I will be doing to teach people how to use them. If it would go here, I'd like to know. =)

Thanks for the kind comment. :) My latest efforts with short tale of whoa... I was in the early stages of developing FollowTheLeader but security concerns shut the project down. I had a prototype working where you could follow another persons navigations around on the web. The goal was to let you review a persons history, favorites, and even see and chat with other folks on the same page. I shut down the project knowing that it was risky but was sorely disappointed because the prospects were too cool. However, I was reminded of how dangerous the internet can be last night. I was "Stumbling" around watching stupid videos and all of a sudden, an Antivir window popped up and told me my computer was massively infected with viruses. It locked down access to Task Manger and REGEDIT. I was like "@#$@#!!!!". Mind you... I was using Firefox when this happened. I hard shutdown the pc, rebooted into safemode, deleted the registry run entry for 234902423.exe. I also found the .exe in my applications folder and deleted it. After some other checks, I rebooted and seem to be ok. That really sucked and may still. I could be totally compromised. Anyway, there is no way we can let random strangers lead us to random sites when the browsers and plug-ins can't be trusted. So, that project is dead and so is my motivation at the moment. With that said, I love what BYOND is able to do in the application and interface space and would love to see and do more. ts |

I created OurPad in 2008, I'll assume it meets the requirements of this guild. As the short description states: It is a simple text editor that allows users to share text online. The .txt and .dm extensions can be opened and saved while .doc/.docx cannot.
I have not touched this project since 2008, but if I recall, it is stable and there are no known bugs. |

Tsfreaks wrote: I understand that you are making youtube videos to teach martial arts. What part of that would you like to put here? I assume you have some BYOND implementation in mind? ts |

Ganing wrote: Indeed, I have a program in which you choose which weapon you wish to train with and then you choose how much time you are going to train each technique. Basically a great way to have a daily training schedule. That's what I used it for, but I figured why not make videos on youtube and then teach people these techniques so they can do them to and also get BYOND some recognition. |

Tsfreaks wrote: I will post it up, the thing is almost every move has either a made up name by me, or a name for it that others might not understand. (Apparently when you are spinning a bo staff with a figure 8 it's called a flower. But I call it a figure 8 nonetheless.) It's a neato program. Great for studying moves and also fun to just play with. =) So far I've implemented Nunchucks, Kamas, and Sais. So far the Sais are at the basic level, Nunchucks are at intermediate, and Kamas are not finished even the basic level due to me breaking mine. =( |

Tsfreaks wrote: OK, let me know when you get it up and running. To be honest, I'm currently not that interested in learning martial arts. I'm just interested in the presentation format using BYOND. I'll be more than happy to provide feedback and suggestions if your open to it. ts |
True, but I just always lack content. Mean no one besides you and I are developing applications.

I'll tell fugsnarf to get a word in about this for BYOND Weekly.
