Well this is what facebook uses from what it looks like, and I find it a great feature to have. This is basically a web based IM client called Ajax IM. This will also allow notifications like:

The reason I suggest this is because currently I hate having to open my pager all the time just to recieve pages/notifications. I spend more time on the website than I do using the pager, and when recieving notifications/pages on the site, it is really hard to actually notice the red atom on the top right.
P.S :: I am not asking you to just scrap the pager, but make it possible to not have to use it all the time but still recieve pages/notifications.

I like Falacy's comment too. That way we can have the pager almost like it used to be, several years back, but actually with the ability to browse through games.
