Pokemon AtraNoctis is currently one of my projects. It has ben abandoned and picked up constantly but now I will try my best to stick with it. I got some good reviews when it was originally hosted by Blackrealm. I'm hoping to now add even a small storyline and some specific features that will make it a truely one-of-a-kind Pokemon fan-game on BYOND!
Original Features-
The original game didn't have too many unique features with the exception of building and the ability for trainers to catch and command NPC pokemon, while other players could play as pokemon. this added a neat little twist that allowed want to be both a trainer and a pokemon. It also had graphics that weren't zoomed in (or resized) which, only slightly, set it aside from the current rips that hog the pokemon genre. By personal laziness and past interest, the game also had "custom attacks" that were learned at so many levels which more ripped it away from the pokemon-game strategy which actually wasn't good. In general, it was merely like the rest and not much to stand out from the crowd...
New/Planning Features-
Now that I am back into the project, I am hoping on creating amazing, and unique features that will quickly bump the game up to notable status. One of the features comes from the game's theme itself. Because I tend to decorate my project with an abundance of red and black, and the name literally means dark night, I have decided to relate the game to its impression. I will put in what will be known as "Shadow Pokemon" which may be known from Pokemon Coliseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. Before I get your hopes up, though, they won't be entirely based off of the examples. Although, I wont tell you of the feature in fear that I will give too many ideas to wandering/cheap game makers which, honestly, I have probably done already...There will also be a customizable trainer feature that I am sure is in no other pokemon game and will allow a large influx of Trainer-players compared to Pokemon-players. Eventually, I hope to put in every element that is pokemon into my game. EVs, IVs, Attacks, Natures, specific stats, and ect. I wish to put them all into my game.
Player Made Game-
I want to base my game off of players' request. I do this so that I wont begin losing players and the fact that I shouldn't hold my opinions as law. I know I'm not the best mapper or coder or iconner. There are people, though, that are closer than I am and if I could get some help from them I could create a wonderful world and experience for the players. Even though I am as open as I say, it doesn't mean I will allow flaws into my game. It will always stay as balanced as I can get it while still retaining the Pokemon feel. "Legendary" Pokemon will be legendary and as rare as they shall be, even throughout the pokemon-player community.
Dream Community-
I am hoping on creating an actual game instead of a chat-room like many games of PAN's kind has fallen into. I want the game to also be fun for players, not GMs. The GMs in my game will be purely limited by the amount of people that are normally online. For the first month or two, in fact, I plan to only have two moderaters- Me and the host, Blackrealm. GMs will also not be chosen based purely on friendship, but instead trust. GMs will also not be able to do much out of the moderating zone with the exception of hosting events. They will be forced into following all the rules the players have and will not be allowed abuseable abilities that are nearly pointless in-game.
Still in the process-
Of course, to implement my ideas will take time. I am hoping to get this game to at least a host-able state by the end of this summer. I would love help whenever it is available. There are currently topics on the game's forum that people can visit asking for maps, coding advice, and even icons. I am capable of doing this stuff on my own but a one-woman team will only slow the pace and may even kill my drive to complete it, which I pray will not happen again...
