Allow a line function, where you can place the selected atom in a line, vertical, horizontal, or diagonal. Similar to the line function in MS Paint.
Also, a circle and square function, again similar to MS Paint. A fill option to fill in empty spaces (...again, similar to MS Paint *sigh* sorry for repeating myself) would be nice as well.
Maps are art too, we should be able to get the nice treatment the icon editor does.

Any news on this one?
|
I've been asking for these tools and more for years. I don't think the map editor is anywhere near the top of the priority list.
|
Which is a shame. Because if the icon editor can have it why can't the map? Maps need good treatment and can't they just like port the tools? Would it really be hard to do?
|
The map format and the icon format are very, very different from eachother. I can see some of the tools being rather easy to implement, while others would be pretty tricky.
|
Well, would the ones I requested be hard to implement? I've been requesting them since '08 and we have useless stuff like messing up the color palette of the Icon Editor, but not this?

The line function probably wouldn't be too bad, you can actually somewhat manage this with the selection tool. So the facility for that is there already. Diagonal lines aren't as easy to calculate well on a grid, so some thought would have to be put into that.
The square is really just the fill (block) tool minus the inner stuff. Circles, however, aren't always easy to pull off. Especially over a large uneven area. A paint-roller (selective fill) can be pulled off using "Find/Replace in Selection". Just select an area, and replace empty turfs with what you want. Then there are the bigger functions like being able to flip a selection and things like rotation, those would be awesome to have but would probably take some pretty good effort to pull off. |
