Mo Williams.

Mo Williams is playing better than LeBron right now, because LeBron can't hit a dang shot today.

As a Chicago Bulls fan, I am obligated to select Derrick Rose.
Dre: Mo is inconsistent and even if he played consistently. The guards listed above are still light years ahead in talent and 'basketball IQ'. |

With all the pressure put on their team in the regular season full of injuries and changes they still pulled through and made it to Conf. Finals over The Disappointing Lebron James and Mo Williams. Have you seen Rondo's Points just this series alone, please stand and say Derrick Rose is the best PG with a straight face... |

They had this same 'argument' on ESPN, the list obviously includes CP3, Deron Williams, and Rose. Ultimately, they picked D. Williams as he was playing 'amazingly' at the time and Rose was out of the playoffs. Rondo played like a superstar, especially with the triple double, in a few games during the Cavs series. But he still is a horrid shooter. This topic is also about the best point guard, not the best game a point guard has had. As with Rose, they always say he is a mini-Lebron, a mixture of D. Williams and CP3. Rose would be able to get those great triple doubles if he had shooters on his team. If you watched the games, he would have averaged atleast 10 assist. They say Derrick Rose and Rondo are the best rebounders at the point guard position. Lastly, Derrick is a better shooter than Rondo. This is why people say he is now or will be the best point guard in the league. |

When you're on a team it isn't about who has the best jumpshot or anything, but who can perform the best, use their strengths to their advantages. Really with the Bulls it isn't the fact that they have no shooters, it's the fact that they can't cooperate well enough. Look at the Lakers for an example of teamwork, then look back at the Bulls. It isn't that they don't have good shooters, they don't have good teamwork. Rajon Rondo CAN'T SHOOT!? I seriously doubt it, he has the ability to take a quick one dribble jumpshot on the outside (LeBron can't do this) and yet quick enough the swiftly reach the basket and hit the layup. Explain how he can't shoot? |

Yeah, look at both teams. Lakers have Fish, Kobe, Artest, Bynum, Gasol, and so on. Chicago has Rose, Noah, and perhaps you could say Deng is decent. The Bulls work great as a team, it's just the team as a whole doesn't have the talent most teams do. Derrick Rose gets double teamed a ton, he kicks out to Deng or Kirk. Both of those guys cannot shoot. Thus, Derrick gets less assists. A great player should be able to lead his team to the playoffs even if they do not have a team. Chicago didn't, and for the most part, their core was injured. Derrick placed the team on his back and took them to the playoffs. Rajon Rondo CAN'T SHOOT!? I seriously doubt it, he has the ability to take a quick one dribble jumpshot on the outside (LeBron can't do this) and yet quick enough the swiftly reach the basket and hit the layup. Explain how he can't shoot? Watch him play, he hesitates to sometimes shoot that jumper. Of course, he can hit the 10 foot jumper, as most players can. But he doesn't have range, you hear it all the time from the commentators. Have you noticed that when people play D on him, when he is near the three point line, they tend to lay off of him. Rondo's field goal percentage consists of layups and 10 footers. Doc Rivers, his coach, said that Rondo was a horrible shooter when he got into the league. He has improved, but he still needs a ton of work. Overall, he is an amazing player, but he isn't the best in the league, nor second best. |
Ah, good poll... nice to see that you've come around to recognize that Rondo is at least a top five PG.
That being said I'd vote Steve Nash now, Chris Paul when healthy. Deron Williams and Rajon Rondo are about on par with each other. Derrick Rose is a better overall player, but doesn't distribute nor defend like the better PGs. |
Rajon Rondo he gets more assist a game then anybody, and his passes are outstanding.

I can admit he still needs to improve a lot more with outside presence, but it really doesn't matter if he shoots 100% Field Goal from 10 feet, he has the talent of creating good drives to the hoop and open oppurtunities which makes him such a great player. Take Shaq as an example of this also, I've never seen Shaq hit a 3Pt shoot in his career but he does just fine because of his good ability to get into the lane. Rondo has the ability to drive strong and attract the foul. Even when double teamed he still finds a way whether it is a drive to the hoop or an assist. |
