Where I've Been
I did not get too much done over the weekend.
- On Friday, there was a graduation celebration (not the commencement proper).
- On Saturday, there was a shopping trip to get some clothes to improve my appearance before employers.
- On Sunday, we saw Iron Man 2. I was also sidetracked with beating Drone, which I heartily recommend.
A new 4.0x skin. I tend to save cosmetic concerns for the end.
I decided that, for this project, I really didn't like the kind of interface I was using for Planetbreakers -- map to the upper left, info on the right, chat down below. This isn't a RTS game, it's a vehicular action game. Consequently, I decided to make it seem more like the cockpit of a mecha: statistical readout gauges on the left and right (current action in the lower left, locked target on the lower right) and a view window in the center.
As the player is ever at the controls of their mecha, the main thing that will change is the view screen. Still sticking largely to the Lode Wars roots, the view screen will initially have a faction selection screen, then a mecha configuration screen, and then finally the map proper so the player can go and blow some stuff up.
Where I'm Going
It's Monday. According to my schedule, this means I need to start bridging the gap from the old code to the new code. As I already have been, I'm ahead of schedule.
While I need to start looking for work soon, I hope to be given the week off since I graduate on Saturday. This is license to set my creativity dial to "11" and let it run. In time, I hope to cultivate the ability to do this rather instantly so I can continue work even if I only have a few hours left in the day.
I want to get a lot of work done this week, and that might mean I'm going to have to snub some people who hit me up over instant messaging programs. No art is without sacrifice, right?
