Well, just yesterday I formatted to Ubuntu 10.04, being somewhat new to Ubuntu, Tekken helped me set up my basic stuff, but, he was busy, so could not help me get BYOND working with Wine.
Can someone walk me through getting BYOND working on Wine? I mostly need Dream Maker, and Dream Seeker working, the BYOND Pager itself would be great too, but I can live without it for a tiny bit of time. Trying the Linux Guild's method got me no where, after trying step 2 of the guide, I got the following error. WINE Version: 1.1.43 BYOND Version: 467.1069 OS: Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 LTS  Thanks. Update: Tried using a .zip version of BYOND too, did not work. | |
Tried the zip too, should have mentioned it in my post, does not work either. :(

The latest versions of wine have some major regressions. Check out the Wine App DB and see which versions of wine worked with BYOND the best and download an older release here (be sure to uninstall the previous wine first, it's fine if the package is from an older ubuntu release)

Thanks, I have noticed that 1.1.18 works with BYOND Great, so am about to try that, my issue here is, that being a newbie to Wine, I am unaware on how to installing it. :(

You're a newbie to Linux you mean, NOT Wine.

Not such a newbie to Linux, just never had to uninstall something in my whole experience with Linux.
Also, as an update: I got 1.1.18 and got BYOND installed, but nothing more, BYOND does not work still. | |
If you're not new with Linux you should know how to use the Synaptic Package Manager for Ubuntu and / or the shell prompt for basic things. Uninstalling things in Linux is like Linux 101

This is why i stop using ubuntu. This is also what made my windows stop from booting up and causing me to reformat my computer.

You didn't partition the drives correctly so you blame the OS? I never had problems with a duel boot. | |

It also looks like there's been a regression in WINE with something BYOND needs to run. So an older version than 1.1.43 might work better (don't know which one though :()
