Hey D: I've been working on this new game for a couple days now. I wanted to see what everyone's opinions are on it so far? There isn't nothing much to do yet, since I just started a couple days ago ;-;
Give me feed back on it, if it's bad, good, what needs to be fixed, what should be added ;-; anything will help?

This could be cool. I didnt make it out of turotrial so dont know how it progresses. I get killed by level two cause I cant regenerate health and when die I get a nice Viking burial out to sea. I actually thought that was kinda funny.

Lol, xD Yeah there wasn't nothing to do after you talk to Old Friend. ;-; I need to fix the bugs whenever the mobs get out of the map D:

lulz. was Nice. and yeah it is nearly impossible to go above level 2. could only kill one enemy then died.

Once I figure out how I want it, then this problem will be solved D: Prf Xwrote: FUN!!! but needs health regenerate or heal items I really like that Health regeneration idea :O! I was planning on adding Items within the next few days. A.T.H.K wrote: I like it :) Thanks! :D |
I like it! The combat system is different. It's not something you see with typical RPGs and the artwork is nice too. Can't wait to play the full version :D

But I switched back to BYOND cause I already knew the basics and a lot more .-. Maybe one day, I'll learn something. I want to make games for a living, that or be a UFC Fighter ;-; |

I meant to aim for a higher standing than "best on BYOND". BYOND's population (Especially the ones who actually notice the new games) is quite low.
|
There aren't any BYOND games that I actually enjoy and have enough content to them to warrent me supporting them much further than 'keep it up'. When making a game, you should aim to make something better than what's available, not just to meet the same standard as the others.

- hopes nobody clicked the Fan button D: -
I just remembered, it was a link to my other game since this game doesn't have a hub ;-; lol. |
I second what NNAAAAHH said. There is some good effort happening with some projects on BYOND but I have yet to find one that that has truly stepped outside the box. There is a noticable theme to overall design that I tend to find a little on the boring side. I am trying out some ideas using a combo of original art, non-copyright images, textures, etc. to create a more realistic looking gameworld/map. When I get a section done I will post a link to screenshot here. I would like to add that all creative work is a good thing and its fun to see what folks come up with.

I can draw, and do a lot, but I find it to be very time consuming when trying to create anything nice in pixel art. I am experimenting with another idea that is much faster and seems to produce decent results. In this screenshot only the blue borders and the dark green grass are original. The castle is a cropped, Creative Commons licensed pic from Wikipedia and all of the rock and light grass tiles are taken from 32x32 crops out of the pic itself. Then all you have to do is deal with perspective and direction of lines.

Looks good, nice HUD system and the combat system is decent. I would say you should progress this game.

Honestly, What I'm doing is I'm meeting the "standards" on when I do an open Alpha. Then Open Beta shows all of the features that go beyond what is currently present in games.
Don't feel like you need to complete your game to get people to play it. You can get to certain points in the game's creation where you're like "Okay, Combat, Quests lines and all the maps are done." this is the point where you can put your game out for Alpha to get feedback from players on how they like the combat, missions and maps. From there you add in more content like side quests, treasures in the world (that everyone can find,) bosses, crafting and etc. This is where you would put up the Beta. Then people can test out the old content as well as the new content and give feed back on that. Then you put the finishing touches on the beta source, add some new systems like occupations, maybe work on how people gain exp and whatever else you find necessary. |
