As heavy Sunday evening fatigue set in, I could only wonder how much of it was physical and how much of it was mental. It was a harrowing weekend, the muses vital work was interrupted critically at several junctures:
  • On Friday, I was drafted to assist an old friend of my mom's. Someone had hacked her Yahoo mail account, and that was heart-wrenching enough that I felt inclined to assist. Did Michelangelo ever have to leave his studio when he was feeling inspired in order to paint fences? If he did, I doubt it'd have improved his work.
  • On Saturday, I was told that if I acted fast I might be able to get a used car. We Americans and our car fascination - how could I resist? However, when it comes to major purchases, only fools rush in, and I didn't like what I saw in my investigation. Later, it turned out that it would not really be financially feasible to get a used car until June anyway - thanks for the wild goose chase, fam.
By Sunday, though I dabbled a bit, I knew I was pretty much spent. Fickle fate had cut down the muse in mid-stride and salted its wounds. Though I had hit about 3-4 milestones out of 5, the writing was on the wall: I didn't meet my week deadline to produce "barely playable."

I is tired wurk too hard
I don't even have anything particularly worth showing in a screen shot.
Fortunately, Lolcats are bred specifically to provide a wall of text breaker.
Fortunately, even in failure, everything was going as planned. You see, the deadline is there for a reason: it's to remind me when it's time to stop beating on the code and take things back to the drawing board. The drawing board is a magical place. There, I can break down some of the walls that are sapping my will to develop and simultaneously come up with some ideas which will supercharge it. A bit of directed inspiration will have me hammering keys productively in no time.

Unfortunately, though I largely spurned it last week, I now should endeavor to get caught up with my schoolwork. That does need to take priority, as I'm down to the last 2-3 weeks of classes this semester, and I want to give as good as a showing as possible.

Don't worry, though: things are far from over for this project. In fact, most of the things I developed this week should be preserved. I still want to create a game with elements of Dwarf Fortress and M.U.L.E and, consequently, a large portion of the GUI I coded this week looks like a keeper. I've even come up with a pretty good name for the game: Planetbreakers. It's not in my nature to have put up that hub entry unless I was pretty confident there'd be a game there eventually.
