So, the side project I am working on is close to being finished. I need to add... 3-4 more elements, then it is done.
That might take 2-3 days, depending on how lazy I am.
Most people who have played the game have enjoyed it. Actually, I have not really had anyone who played it say they dislike it.
Several people have even compared it to commercial games, and said it is probably the best turn based battle system made with BYOND.
The question is what to do next?
Leave it as it is? A PVP game and nothing more.
Or turn it into a full RPG style game?
PS: Only people who have played the game need make a post here. If you have not it is still being hosted and you can try it out.

As a fellow who has gridlocked himself creatively many times, my advice is this: Which is why I said you shouldn't really comment unless you play the game first. The game is... Well it is just a RPG battle system. At the moment it is pure PVP. But it has everything that is needed to make a RPG. Minus maps and quests. It would take minimal effort to turn it into a proper RPG. Which is why I am asking this question. |
I personally think that the PvP system is fine, about the RPG tho: I would recommend that if you add in an RPG system that you link the PvP to the RPG and allow players to unlock weapons, armor, etc through the RPG to use in PvP battles as well as giving players the option to make a PvP only character which uses would use the same system as you have now to unlock/evolve weapons and possibly armor with points and evolve points based on wins and losses.

Don't reign in that muse by consigning yourself to an RPG or a Strategy game, especially as forced upon you by a poll.
Instead, develop whatever you're n the mood for now. If you don't like where it's going, put it on hold for a bit and start on the other project.
It could very well be what you want is a PvP RPG at heart.
