Hello, after the years and years of talk about how rips dominate BYOND and how BYOND Anime is full of idiot 12-year-old rippers with no lives i've begun to watch the games a bit more. You say there are no original games and the ones that are, are crap. I have to disagree, there are plenty of original and fun games on BYOND. You just have to know where to look.
Sure there are still rips, but the only way of finding them now is to search really hard for them. Look at BYOND Anime's game list, as you can tell its only 2 pages long with about 37 games. I'm no genius, but that doesn't look like tons of rips dominating BYOND or BYOND Anime. Sure, not all of them have original ideas, but none of those are flat out copied games. Not any rips there.
Talk, talk, talk about rips is what your thinking I am doing, but think again. BYOND RPG's game list contains 4 pages with about 80 games. You can see plenty of fun and original games. Most of which have original ideas.
That is just an example of the decline of rips. I don't see how you can still use "There are too many rips, why should I make original games!?" as an excuse to be lazy. Now its time we stop complaining about how rips dominate BYOND, and start actually making games. Fun games.
There are plenty of fun, innovative, and original games on BYOND. Why not have your game title in the list of those of BYONDs' greatest?

It does amaze me that so few people seem to realize how much the situation has improved in the anime guild and how there really isnt too much of a crisis in terms of quality control on BYOND right this moment. Things really should be optomistic if anything as I dont really think we've had a time where there has been as many decent games.

The only downside is that, I think a good chunk of the originally made games, don't offer a download link.
Ex; BYOND Action's 101 gets narrowed down to 79. BYOND RPG's 80 gets narrowed down to 35 available. BYOND Anime's 37 gets narrowed down to 9. (I went by Downloadable, not taken Already Live into account). I think since the Rip Invasion, many developers are just taking their time when developing a project. I know I am. But then again, BYOND is a hobby-gaming type of situation. So you can put a deadline, but not have to finish by then. Also, it's hard to find decent programmers and pixel artists. I've gone through so many applications and conversations trying to find a good pixel artist without touching my bank account, and it's become a hassle so I work on everything for my projects now. Oh, EDIT: I think, maybe BYOND Anime should look into teaching the Anime-fan Community that there are other GREAT animes out there besides Naruto, Dragonball, YuYuHakusho and Bleach. I notice sometimes there are Anime Reviews, which is great but if only viewers would get very hooked into the anime being reviewed to where there is a good variety of Anime Games. |

Defend is in a polished and playable state, but I don't want to rush to release it. I also got tired of searching for pixel artist so I mostly do the pixel art for my games. |

At the moment, my RPG is playable to an extent. There is an issue with Loading, but I have to rewrite some systems. Other than that, it's playable but lacks any depth (Monsters, Towns, etc.) to it. Which is why I'm not putting the word out there. |

Who uses that as an excuse to be lazy? lol Pretty much the whole community. Other than the ones actually making good games. |
The overwhelming majority of the community makes up excuses to not contribute. The most vocal excuse being that the community is drowning in Anime game rips, a legitimate complaint several years ago but a complete cop-out in the current environment. I understand what Magicbeast is trying to say, people need to stop complaining about the community and stop finding reasons not to make games and start contributing.

I mean, if I do decided to make a rip game it has nothing to do with BYONDs status, the ration of BYOND's original games to BYOND's ripped games, or anything like that, it's going to be ripped because that's what I want. Honestly, I could care less what BYOND wants.

i would like to see people put up or shut up. tired of seeing blogs like "OMGM@@@@#@! RIPS R TAKING OVER@#@!#@" or "I'M SO TIRED OF RIPS!@#@!" lets put a spoke in somebody's wheel and start developing better games.

Its fine, a game that Ganing describes would never get any actual admittance into any publicized guild/community on BYOND, so it would only be visible to him and his friends. These projects are definately frowned apon for good reason, your stealing things that arent yours. Still, it doesnt negatively affect the community if you keep it to yourself.

My statement was actually for me creating games in general. I don't make any ripped games anymore because I got tired of people having lousy code that I had to fix. But honestly with my games, I make/made them for my own entertainment, not to help BYOND or anything of that sort. But if one does end up helping BYOND, I have no problem with that.

I agree, and I've often wondered why people say "zomg look at all the rips in BYOND Anime" these past few years, when there really hasn't been any.
|
There's rips in the BYOND Anime guild that slip past the Game Judges, I can point one out right now.
DB Generations, a very obvious Dbz Finale rip, but I guess the Anme Judges can't point out the comparison, they just decide originality based on the recolorment of the icons. |

Also, since Finale is itself a Zeta rip youll sort of come to understand why we allowed some games with significant changes to a source code that's been publicly available for the better half of a decade to slip in under seniority rules. |
