Hello all present, past, and future members of Hogwarts: A History. Obviously, in the last couple of weeks, some events have put distance between people of the community, and from this I feel the game has suffered. Whether you side with Logan's Server, or Orion's Server, I urge you to listen and read through this proposal.
Now, I do want to make it clear that I will be helping Orion with his server, and this is the server I feel needs to be made offical. It still uses the offical hub, so therefore it shall be reconized as Original HAH. I'm working to either removed Logans Hub, or at best, have it renamed so there isn't any confusion between the two games that have emerge.
However, I have started writing this proposal to introduce a new HAH. I want to introduce new concepts, new gameplay, and much more content. I want to reduce the amount of useless or unused content of the game. Please take the time to read through these ideas. Zero, Orion, and myself have been working them out and would love input.
1. Auto-Classes
The three of us feel that the only reason we actually have GMs is to hold events and classes. So we would like to nullify the need for GMs by introducing Auto-Classes. This portion of V2 is actually already done, we just need to program the classes for all the spells. Some of you may have seen the demo that was put up, but basically every 30-60 minutes a random NPC-teacher starts a class. The floorpath still comes on, and when you attend you wait for the class to begin, you have roughly 3 minutes before it starts. Now the classes may vary, but most will involve a lecture from the teacher. For example, the Incendio and Wingaurdian Leviosa Classes that are already done simply highlight the features of the spell, such as what it does, its MP usage, how much damage it does (if any), etc. Then the students are required to do a test, which differs for each spell. For Incendio, you are put in a maze and are required to kill 10 mice. You must also use the torch doors to access parts of the maze. For Winguardian Leviosa, there was a gap splitting you and four hoops. The student is required to levitate 4 quaffles into the 4 hoops on the other side of the gap. Of course, sometimes the test might simply be an automated written test. However, after each test, you recieve a grade depending on how well you did. If you did well enough, you can keep the spell you were taught. If not, recieve a bad grade. We would be using the Wizardry Levels of grading: Outstanding, Exceeds Expectations, Acceptable, Troll, etc.
2. Years
With the introduction of auto-classes and grades, I'd like to introduce different grades. This would be determined by how many classes you've attended, and the grades you recieved from them. For instance, if you have gone to lets say 20 classes, and passed 15 of them, then you become a 2nd year. Special privledges would be given to in higher years, like only 5th years might be able to attend a class on Apparation or Legilimens. Other purposes could be added to this.
3. Leveling
Leveling is so linear, and really only relies on one stat, your level. Because the Magic, Stength, and Defence are randomly given to you at each level, you have no control over them. However, I would like to redo the stats, revisting how I once did them according to class. Let me go a bit further into detail.
There would be a stat for each class: Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Transfiguration, etc. Each one would act as its own level, each having its own Exp and Max Exp. So basically, you have approx. 5 levels to build your character with. Now different spells would work differently with each stat. So spells that do damage would rely on the DADA stat. Charms such as Accio and WL would depend on the Charms stat. How long or how well a transfiguration works would depend on your Trans stat. Which potions and plants you could grow and make would depend on your Herbology and Potions stat. This way you can find out which stat you want to major in. The level stat would be abolished. There would be several ways to raise each stat of course. Growing Plants for herbology, Making potions for Potions, Training Rooms would mostly rely on DADA, practicing Charms would raise your Charms stat, and something similar to Transfiguartion. Attending each class would obviously increase your stats.
I feel that this method is less of a grinding way than having to read books for ages upon end, and gives more variety. Even Lindsay Crashed agrees this method could work, and I have proof of this! Its still open for debate on how it fully works though, so feel free to comment.
4. Dying
Now Orion introduced a great new method of dying. Ghosts. As plain and obvious as this was, we've never tried it. However we all feel this could add a great sence of RP to the game.
When you die, you become a ghost. No one can see you except for other ghosts, and perhaps dogs. When you talk, only ghosts can hear you, but you would be able to explore the castle and go through walls. All that jazz. To come back to life, someone could perform a spell or give your body a potion. Your body would remain where you died, so anyone could toy with it basically. Another way to be revived would be to talk to Madame Promfrey as a Ghost. Its still being debated if you would respawn where you died, or in the Hospital Wing. Its also being debated if Ghost would be able to be use OOC, as you would get a lot of people screaming "REVIVE ME!". This also introduced the use of Horcruxes, as when you died..you wouldn't die, one Horcrux would just be deleted. So basically, you have more lives. During RP sessions though, you would not be able to revive until the end of the RP hour.
5. The Triwizard Tournament
Now this has always been a fun pasttime of HAH, and most times Zero would organize it. Thats why I'm asking him to design 10 tasks. This way, every 2 weeks, maybe less time, we could host a TWT. Instead of being 3 champions, we would have house champions, one from each house. Then they would partake in three of these tasks that are randomly programed. Each task will output a score so by the end of the tournament, there is a winner. If you have any ideas for tasks, then please post them. We already have The Lake, The Dragons, and The Hedge-Maze.
6. Targeting & Projectiles
I don't know how much of dueling is acutally a part of HAH anymore, but I'd like to remove Targeting spells. In reality, spells that you have to target people to use become useless in a duel. So I'm proposing we find alternatives for any targeting spell. Some already determined alternatives for spells such as Episky are, if someone is in front of you, the spell is used on them, if not, it is used on yourself. Spells like the Dancing Curse (I can't remember how to spell it) would be projectiles, but they wouldn't operate on the same level as regular projectiles. They would maybe move faster, and above the damage doing spells (such as Flippendo). Me and Zero (Our DUELING EXPERT) are working this all out to see what works best. Any duelers out there, your input would be greatly appreciated.
7. Clans
I'm not sure how to approach this. I might suggest just keeping them the same until most of the above is completed. At this time, it can be further discussed on how they woudl work.
8. Prefects
I'm not sure, this is just a suggestion.. But basically I want to make Prefects the ONLY game moderaters in the game. They would only have Detnetion, Mute, and perhaps a few other minor verbs.
Now heres a big iffy, but what if Prefects were autoassigned to players that were seen as "perfect". For example, they would have to be 6th year, probably level 50 or higher in each class stat, and a whole whack of stuff. Don't get me wrong, it will be hard to achieve this title. And only the first couple of people would be able to get it, so once there are 2 prefects in Gryffindor, no other Gryffs would be able to get Prefect for a while. If the game reconized that the current prefects were inactive for any reason, it would remove them and find and ask the next best person. Again, this is an iffy thing, what does everyone else think? Overall, the MGMs would be able to remove any Prefects they find unfit for the job.
