Oh, I've tried in the past, but I have this weird ADD when it comes to Byond.

:1:

I'll get online, pick a random game, play it, and think "How can I make this better?"

I then proceed to write up a massive design document on systems and dynamics that would, theoretically, blow everything of the same genre out of the water if implemented, tested, and reconfigured based on those tests appropriately.

I then try to focus on creating general algorithms that could be easily converted to DreamMaker script syntax, since years of VB, C++, and HTML/CSS/PhP have completely destroyed my ability to learn it. Finally, I make a few base icons (since that's the only ability that isn't straight-up design that I can contribute to Byond), find a Coder and/or Mapper, and proceed to be completely distracted by a random MMORPG that falls from the freaking sky.

This has happened to me every few months since I joined in 2004, and I've never managed to pump out anything better than a cheesy V1.0 of anything I really put effort into. Cheesy V1.0s that were in the top 20 for popular Byond games before they met terrible ends, but cheesy V1.0s nonetheless.

Yet here I sit, scanning through the Byond games, and seeing one poorly executed Naruto/DBZ/Bleach/Generic Fantasy game after another. Some of the SYSTEMS are good, but they either scale poorly, are too confusing for the casual Byondite, or the community is too unbalanced/aggressive/overpowered to get into a... Well... FUN position.
