Many people have been waiting 7 months for the new Seika update, and we are glad to announce that it is progressing faster than ever. We hope to have it released in a few weeks after some major testing. We still have quite a few more things to add in, but we are very happy with our work so far.
Some things you can look forward to in the update are the new house system, the new skills, the very balanced gameplay, and more.
The new house system is built to load and save the maps of houses as needed to keep lag down. The most important part about this new system is it allows players to place their house down where ever they want on the map.
No new skills have been added as of yet, but we will be adding in Tailoring, Enchanting, Herbalism, and possibly another. Because of the way things are balanced out, Tailoring will be needed by mages to give them something to wear. Protection now reduces the amount of damage spells can cause. In order for the mages to get increases, they can use Enchanting to give their clothes enchantments. Herbalism will be for gathering herbs so that potions can be made easily. We will be adding new potions, spells, clothes, and herbs. The way we want the new systems for Herbalism and Tailoring to work is where the herbs and plants needed for them randomly grow around the world. The way we will do enchanting is not clear yet.
In order to balance Seika, we did a lot of work. We rearranged all the monsters so that they go in a better order, we gave them levels which determines on how much experience you get from them, and we made it so they would drop equipment when killed. The lower the level of mob, the more often they drop equipment. This will help newbies start off better. Because equipment now have level restrictions, monsters will only drop equipment in their level range. Equipment that is dropped is classified as soulbound. Soulbound means that the item cannot be given or traded to another player. Equipment becomes soulbound after it is equipped and after it is looted. Crafted equipment and equipment bought from merchants are not soulbound unless they get equipped. What this does, is it allows us to let players find equipment but not be able to sell it for a ton of gold to some newb who needs it, that way the player sells it to a merchant and then some newb will have something reasonable to purchase at the merchants. There are many other things done to balance Seika, but you'll just have to try the new update once it comes out to find out.
A few things we are working on right now is onscreen menus instead of statpanels, flying mounts, reducing lag, cleaning the code up, adding an item stack system, remaking the sound effects and music, adding new spells, adding the rest of the castles, finishing Shinro and Vikiar, adding a new help system, remaking most of the icons, adding a new quest system, and much more.
Many changes have been made to Seika and many changes are yet to come in the following weeks. Just know that we are working hard and almost ready to bring Seika back.

It's good knowing that Iccusion hasn't died and vanished off the face of the Earth. The drastic change should bring some old players back, I'm a little excited... just a little o.o
|
I tested it and the map is awesome, the inside of the houses look pretty cool, too. I only saw the small houses though..Recently I've lost interest in Seika..maybe I'll start playing more often with this new update. ;D

lol Aaiko i am still mad at what happened to my house and everything in it. Because of that like half of the people quit Seika. :P

Equipment that is dropped is classified as soulbound. Soulbound means that the item cannot be given or traded to another player. Equipment becomes soulbound after it is equipped and after it is looted. Crafted equipment and equipment bought from merchants are not soulbound unless they get equipped. There are many other things done to balance Seika, but you'll just have to try the new update once it comes out to find out. Oh dear. Yeah, reducing player-to-player relations and enforcing no inter-player trading is gonna be GREAT. |
Ooooooooo someone Page me like mad if I'm on during the next testing, I wanna see it :D
(the soulbound thing...will it be soulbound to your key or your character...?) |
Well, you could trade stuff if you don't equip something that you want to sell. It isn't all that bad.
|
I've seen the new stuff on the testing server and it looks really cool , I hope all this other stuff makes it even better.
|
Elation, it doesn't effect player trading because people can still craft items and trade them. The new equipment dropping system and the soulbound system equal eachother out. The only extra thing is items cannot be traded after they have been equipped. This makes the shops always have stock for people to buy at reasonable prices and stops overpricing and massive gold floating around. Blacksmiths and the alike can still craft items and sell them. As for soulbound, it goes by key. The item becomes unsoulbound when you buy it from the merchant, but don't think you can be sneaky because it stays soulbound if you buy it back.

rofl i love how you guys are copying alot of things from WOW. Well i guess a 2d wow/seika would be nice for people who can't afford the game!
|
What are we copying from World of Warcraft? Soulbound? Soulbound was before WoW, heck, Seika was before WoW. I don't see how we're copying anything from WoW. It's not like they invented Herbalism or Enchanting either.

The lower the level of mob, the more often they drop equipment ... What this does, is it allows us to let players find equipment but not be able to sell it for a ton of gold to some newb who needs it, that way the player sells it to a merchant and then some newb will have something reasonable to purchase at the merchants can't this newb just go kill those low level mobs that drop items? just because players can sell items doesn't mean people will be forced to buy them. if the items drop frequently they'd be easy to get and wouldn't have a very high selling value to another player. stops overpricing and massive gold floating around if a player sells an item to another player for a massive amount of gold, that money had to come from somewhere. the high price of the item didn't create that massive amount of gold, the player already had massive amounts of gold. if you don't want that much gold floating around, don't let players get that much gold in the first place! =) What are we copying from World of Warcraft? flying mounts too, though they aren't in WoW yet they were announced a while ago. I don't see how we're copying anything from WoW. It's not like they invented Herbalism or Enchanting either. copying WoW means that you're taking something from WoW *regardless of where blizzard got it*. mages have been in many games, but someone wouldn't necessarily accuse you of stealing mages from WoW too. however, its very funny how in one post you mention so many additions to seika that are also in WoW. The item becomes unsoulbound when you buy it from the merchant, but don't think you can be sneaky because it stays soulbound if you buy it back. sheesh, sounds complicated... why not just make it work like it does in WoW? ;-) |
Most of the stuff we are now adding to Seika was in Seika II way before World of Warcraft came out. Flying mounts have been something we and the players have wanted for years on Seika.
"however, its very funny how in one post you mention so many additions to seika that are also in WoW." No, in one post we mention so many additions to Seika that were also in Seika II. |
No, in one post we mention so many additions to Seika that were also in Seika II. my point was that no matter where the additions are ultimately coming from, they're in WoW and now they're being added to seika which makes it quite a coincidence. still just a coincidence, but a rather big one. world of warcraft is a great game, so taking ideas from it is a smart thing to do. i still don't understand how you're fixing the economy though. |
