I figured that I could commission someone better than me to make a great base icon, since it was the most common thing you'd see in the game.
So, after noticing a forum post he made about how he is now taking in some freelance pixel work. I decided to offer him to make just the walking state for 20$. There were really only two requirements for it.
That it look worth the money
I gave him a reference of one I found to be a decent looking base...and sortof what i was going for:

I also wanted it to blend in with our current map..if it clashed or didnt stand out, that would be a problem. Mdnight made one that clashed so we figured it'd be better to find someone who isn't quite as detailed.
So, after asking Hulio if he was interested. He said yes, and said he would get it done within the next week.
4 weeks later, he gave me a list of several pictures asking what types of abs and things I wanted.
After him being courteous enough to allow me the decision of picking out all the bases features (which apparently is only Shoulder width, abs, and thats it)
After picking these out,he said he'd have it the next day,
about 5 weeks later he sent me...this.

Actually, this is an edited version of it, I don't have the original, but I had to change the color as it was a horrible yellow color (I may upload it later if axerob hasn't sent that half-assed shit to the recycling bin where it belongs.)
So, upon recieving this, I tell him it looks OK and I'm going to look and see if it needs any changes. I was disappointed with the lack of colors (i.e. shading), the head shape, and the lack of underpants. The walking states were choppy and the color was all screwy, but I fixed those. After discussing it with axerob and his other pixelart buddy, we all agreed that this just wasn't worth 20 bucks. So we invited hulio in. After he told Goslowly in there that he didn't know shit about pixel art, Hulio raged with him about an hour, and then promised to listen to me to fix the things I didn't like.
I even felt that him doing even more work was wrong morally, considering I was picking out those abs and whatnot (I just figured they'd at least be shaded). So in politeness, I said I'd offer him a bonus once it's done after he had already offered to re-edit it completely.
So, to recap: Hulio-G makes a promise he doesn't keep.
about 3-4 more weeks after promising a base, he doesn't even deliver a preview, now I'm growing impatient. I talk to tayoko, and tayoko says he'd do it for a little more, but it would be finished that day.
So, I ask hulio for a refund...and he chews me out about how thats what I wanted, and got, and then refuses. Then he says I have to "wait in line" because he already started on Someone else's icon. He also throws in this big baw about how he has school (for probably 1-2 days out of the week) and is much busier than the average man. Yeah w/e, I work 2 jobs faggot.
Now, I'm minorly at fault here for picking out those features, but the fact he didn't shade them is even more underhanded, also the fact that he offered to re-make it or at least edit it to something satisfactory and didn't deliver.
Also, I wasn't even going to mention this to the BYOND public until I saw this.
So, have fun with my 20 bucks you two-faced faggot.
