Yeah, when I got the Gravity Bolt the story stopped continuing. The elevator wouldn't open, nor any other doors except the second one, and the computer person kept saying the same thing.
I also get a problem in GreatFisher's Sword. When I climb down the ladder where the enemy is, the game freezes. Every time.
Oh I maybe uploaded an older version, I had a lot of trouble with the AI at one point.

There is a bug in your game. In the first room to your right, after the transition effect if you immediately move up you will get stuck outside the map.

The version Bravo1 linked to works fine. You might want to wait on playing that though, because a few minutes later it ends with a "to be continued" speech.

Here's the version I was meant to submit.

I really enjoyed playing over a lot of the entries!
Here are my thoughts on the various entries that were memorable: Motherboard Madness by Albro1: I think that this game could have been a bit better if it had more interesting enemies and smoother framerate. Gravity by Bravo1: This has to be the best platformer platformer I've played on BYOND. What I mean by this is, the physics and controls are very good and smooth, and the animation is beautiful, despite the lack of detail in the art. This could have been an amazing game if it had more content and faster dialogue text. bleebloop boop boop. Sword by GreatFisher: Good art, but was expecting a bit more. Game froze after I finished tutorial? GiaW by YutPut: Starts off very promising with distinctive art style and good storytelling, but gets worse as the game goes on, when it becomes apparent that the platforming has relatively poor physics and unresponsive controls and the enemies serve no purpose and just stand there and the story unravels into something that's simply uninteresting and poorly written. This could have been excellent with better platforming physics and a good story. Rocket Down by Akto: Cute art. Good platforming physics. Strange problems with the collission it seems? I can't shoot while I'm on the ground. Additionally, the controls are a little clunky. I'm not so sure if I'm a fan of the heat mechanic when it comes to this sort of competitive multiplayer game; That sort of thing needs to be tuned very finely. Captive by Toddab: Ooo a dungeon crawler! Seems to play decently but would have been much better with effects. As it is, combat isn't very interesting, but if it had simple slash animation and sounds and whatnot... oh man! :P |
For anyone with issues with the game:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/25108410/Gravitygiaw.zip Those are updated files. Also, you CAN skip cutscenes, but I forgot to add it to the controls display. Pressing ESCAPE will skip the current block of text. |

That's something I've never encounter, and it's rather odd. I'm looking into it right away. [EDIT] It actually happens in all directions. I'm fixing it right now and I'll update the hub with the new version. |

I didn't have that issue with Rocket Down. Shot perfectly fine. Gravity doesn't do anything with savefiles, so I'm not sure what the issue is. |
Sorry for the freezing with mine that was simply uploading the wrong version and the lack of content is due to the fact that I only found out about the contest on Tuesday and bit off more than I could handle :P.

Just so everyone knows: I'm going to continue work on the game and pretty much everything past the original cutscene will be different. It may take a while, but when I started the GiaW I knew I'd only be making a demo.
So please look forward to more releases for Gravity. Including new hud, different level design, redesigned and skipable cutscenes, bosses, minimap, editable controls, and much much more. Example: The doors I made were quick and easy for the competition, but I wanted them to be much more like the doors in the Metroid series. So yeah. Anyways, how did you guys like the music and SFX in the game? Did anyone try shooting the soldiers/guards? |

It's the text files. My bad. Miss-wording shall be the death of me! change the name of "Gravity by Bravo1" to "Gravity" |
Once again, if you guys download this one>
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/25108410/Gravitygiaw.zip You wont have those issues o__o |

I did have a slash effect in, actually, but the layering was being difficult, and I felt it would be better with a proper attack animation; which I didn't have time to make so I removed the effect.
I had planned to have some skeletal mages for ranged combat, and a status effect or two, like a boss every fifth floor who could freeze you if he landed a good hit on you. Oh, also I did consider a couple sound effects for combat, but by the time I was ready to there wasn't enough time since I did the music near the end. Anyways. I might continue the game someday and improve on it, but I am still debating, and either way I will fix the hub scores; I did those last and hadn't made any before so I slipped up. Also, I had to get some sleep as I was exhausted, but I'll be playing everyone elses entries sometime in the next couple hours or so now. I'll post my thoughts on them after, too. |
I'm writing a small review for all the games, I'll post it once I've finished it (whenever that is).

If you haven't already play the version of sword I meant to submit. http://www.sendspace.com/file/e5rvv4

Yeah, I was never very sure about the sword slashing or how I died when I did. The monsters just seemed to stand there.
|
I have a couple more games to score, but I need to ask if the judges can post their reviews...

Oh, and I also had alerts for accessing files in some games. All you have to do to prevent those is rename the folders back to the name of the .dmb instead of "[game] by [author]".
