So wait, is the contest until Friday 11:59PM CST, or Saturday 11:59PM CST? 12:00AM always confuses me, because I'm never sure how other people treat it. Timezone/DST differences don't help, either.

Well, I believe we started 12AM on Saturday Central time, so you've got until that same time this week which leave 3 days and 2 hours left.

I live in the EST (eastern standard time zone)and according to the BYOND sites time tracking,
Event Aug 4, 1:00 am to Saturday, 1:00 am Which, for my time zone, basically means it ends more or less on Friday night (albeit a little after) | |
Quick update before I go to bed(no screenshot this time i'm afraid). I have a working tutorial level, with on-screen explanation and a balding ginger man for a laugh. I rearranged the lights to give an even spread of light. And finally I made arrow shooters to go next to ladders, they do damage and knock you off. Okay G'night all.

Code's getting too messy. I'm considering quitting the contest to restart on my own time; I don't care about the money, but the game's looking too cool to let go.

I ask simply because I have been planning to work until the last couple of hours or so remain, then submit; that way no time goes to waste. I really want to give my all in this, even though I started a bit late. | |
Yeah, that was the original plan. You can work right up until the end. I won't be super picky on the seconds or even a few minutes, but if it gets to be too overdue then I may have to disqualify entries. ):

I've been making some good progress on my game so far, a lot more than if I didn't have the competition to look forward to.
I've been getting pestered about information or screenshots, and while I wont post any images yet, I can give you some detail... Controls- 100% (until more abilities are added) Abilities- 60% Enemies- 60% Objects- 50% Scenery/Turfs- 10% Cutscenes- 10% Procedures- 50% Maps- 5% Hud- 0% Animations- 50% Total- ~30% Friday I won't have much time to work on the game, and I'm concerned that I won't be able to finish the small version I was planning on. However, I plan to work all day when home today and tomorrow, which I haven't been doing the past few days (I've mostly neglected it). So I've put only about 4 hours daily the past few days into the game, I'll probably end up doing 6-8 hours the next two days and considering I'm getting the tough stuff out of the way first, I should be all right. | |

I know the feeling. I can't progress because I don't have an artist. That's really my only set back. I've tried hiring them, freelancers , people who work for free. The talent pool isn't very productive, and the actual artists who know what they are doing have the luxury of picking and choosing their jobs.
Does anyone have any suggestions about someone who isn't pixel art inclined could do to make some good looking graphics? pixel art isn't the only medium.. | |
Yeah cuz, y'know. Not having a pixel artist and living out in your car stealing wifi from your ex-house is totally the same.
