I removed what I said because it sounded utterly silly.
I saw it as perfectly valid.

You said you can divide them into three groups but you provided only two...or you put an 'or' instead of an 'and'.

There's the general group of people that make up most of BYOND.
1 There's the trolls. 2 And then there's the "Gurus" or "Oldbies". 3 |

yes, i am. ...oh, does that make moot everything you said? gee, i'm sorry You didn't actually. I know there are people out there working hard at making good material to send out, and I applaud those people. |

Kind of like walking up to an injured person and saying "wow man, you're injured!". No insult is intended, it's just pointing out the obvious. It's really only obvious to him and those that agree with him. Though it's expected and a little funny to see a statement like that come from Silk, the statement doesn't even back itself up. |
In retrospect, calling you an idiot without qualifying it was uncalled for. But seriously dude... you're just totally clueless about this stuff.
If you think that an overpriced single player game with pretty graphics and mind-numbing gameplay is A.) The first completed BYOND game, or B.) The first "truly successful" BYOND game, then you don't know anything about BYOND. If you think that it is up to regular BYOND users to police and protect themselves from abusers while the mods stand by helplessly with their hands tied, then you don't understand online communities. (Don't feel bad though - Tom is a smart guy and he doesn't understand them either.) If you actually categorize BYOND users in terms of lower, middle and upper "classes", then you probably need to take a break from the internet. About your "Knights of BYOND" analogy - to borrow a quote from a friend: I DARE YOU TO MAKE LESS SENSE. But what really gets me: Fugsnarf wrote: So why sit here dormant, those that could do some good? I'm working on doing my part to better the community, and I'm putting my voice out there. Are you? Everything else aside, the only actual games that you make are fan games. Fan. Games. You've even previously admitted that you choose to make fan games because you're too lazy to come up with your own music/graphics. So yeah. Don't lecture other people on improving the community while simultaneously taking a dump on it. |
I prefer to rule communities with an iron fist. If someone screws up, they get a very harsh warning and no second chances. However, if they slip by me and don't make the same mistakes twice, then I'm not going to witch-hunt them.
That's why I get irritated with the position on BYOND I actually have. It sucks being the lowest on the food chain in terms of moderation. I get ample people coming to me in private and when I do voice their opinions to the powers that be, it definitely feels like I'm not being listened too (even though, I probably am). Case in point is this Cyberlord/Underworld Kid crap. They've pushed my patience as far as it can, and it seems no matter how hard I push for their ban, I don't make any progress at all. |
In response to Silkwizard in that last section, the part that I'm doing, which I stated, is working hard to improve my pixel movement systems. An easy way to do that is to test it through fangames. Zelda and Megaman are perfect in my opinion because they provide two fairly different systems to work with. I also need only to focus on gameplay, and not music and sprites.
Please remember that when talking about Regressia, I stated that it was all in my opinion. While I may think a game sucks, you may get some nostalgia from the game and think it's awesome. Really what makes me love Regressia is the fact that it could appeal to an outside audience, and it also has an in-depth storyline. I really have a hard time finding games like that around here. I'm not saying Regressia is the only one, but I did say it was the only one that -I- could find. This means you're all welcome to praise the others you find and like. And maybe my analogy didn't make much sense to you guys. I don't know, it made sense to me at the time. Kinda corny I guess. I also wasn't talking about policing. I'm just talking about making good games. You're doing a fine job with NEStalgia, Silkwizard, and I've praised you before for it. |

Even worse, there aren't any real laws on the books, so it's up to you to make up rules to enforce. Fugsnarf wrote: I also wasn't talking about policing. I'm just talking about making good games. You said that BYONDers shouldn't be complaining about the state of the community. But that's exactly what they should be doing, because the only people with any real power to fix it apparently haven't heard us yet. The fact is that this community has run amuck to the point where the majority of "developers" don't actually know how to code, and just steal source code instead. Furthermore, the player base is half-retarded and is only here for Anime games. The end result is that real developers don't have an audience to make games for, and mature players don't have anyone else to play with. So they leave. |

I'll admit that even I expected a ban for what I did. I'll also admit that I knew exactly what I was doing when Underworld Kid declared that we "get revenge on Pmitch". I also admit that I am a complete and total idiot for ever even acknowledging Underworld Kid's presence. I've told Tom plenty of times that I'll gladly accept my punishment, yet Lummox claimed just two weeks ago that "I have a bit more rope than Underworld Kid". Not that I'm not grateful, and not that I haven't been trying to turn myself around ever since that day, but the BYOND staff is really slacking if they let something like that go by. |
Just so we're clear, do not by any stretch of the imagination even think that by saying you're trying to turn over a new leaf and whatnot that I'm not going to continue pushing for your ban.

If you push for your own ban, and other people have informed you they don't want you here, why not just leave?
