Numbered Steps to Reproduce Problem:
1. I log onto my key.
2. I connect to a game.
3. My guest key shows up.
4. I relog.
5. Shows up again.
6. I host.
7. When I connect shows up as i'm on a guest key.
Expected Results:
Me actually logging onto my key.
Actual Results:
Me logging onto my guest key.
Does the problem occur:
Every time? Or how often?
Everytime.
In other games?
Yes.
In other user accounts?
Yes.
On other computers?
Haven't tried.
When does the problem NOT occur?
When I downgrade my BYOND.
Did the problem NOT occur in any earlier versions? If so, what was the last version that worked? No.
Workarounds:
My firewall already has BYOND allowed through all networks. It's just when I upgraded the the beta version 497 it logs me into all games as a guest. But, on version 496 it was fine.

Alright, I've moved this back to bug reports then, as its for the beta version. However, it seems to be working fine for me (W7 Pro 64bit), so it's still likely an issue on your side. Did you try removing the entries for BYOND in your firewall and having it relearn them? Also, are you logging into the BYOND client or the BYOND website?

We really didn't touch anything in the pager or login code for this release (it's extremely minor), so if 496 consistently works and 497 doesn't, I have to believe it is a firewall configuration issue.

My firewall allows byond and it still logs me on as a guest. Me on my pager: http://puu.sh/Mg2s Me logging onto a game: http://puu.sh/Mg33 Edit: Configured my Dream Daemon and Dream Seeker. Still doesn't work. |
In that first image your firewall shows two entries for DreamSeeker. Each has a different option checked, instead of both being checked like they are for the pager.

Another thing I'm confused about is why you have two different entries for byond.exe and dreamseeker.exe. Is BYOND installed in two places? If not, the setup is incorrect. It may be doing a version/hash check on the file, which is something you should disable.

I also fixed my problem I just had to relog my BYOND. Thanks for all the help Lummox, Tom and DarkCampainger. |
Typically, this type of issue is caused by firewalls, especially those that use a checksum/hash on allowed programs to prevent different versions of the same software from being allowed. Try removing any rules for BYOND in your firewalls, and allowing it to "relearn" them.
