To those who don't know what a avatar is (not a James Cameron one nor the last airbender.. :/), it's also called the small icon that you see beside a person's name in forum posts and etc. But as the summary stated, what does yours represent?

*Warning, slightly lengthy read*

Mine, while it very clearly is a image of a Dragonball Z game, mine specifically (which I won't shamelessly plug beyond the avatar itself) is not quite visible for the reasons that some of you may think. No it is not there to provide advertisement, (in fact I dislike the "players" it attracts, *shudder) but rather it serves as a reminder of a pivotal time in my programming career. The game itself isn't very great aesthetically or programming wise, but I did garner a lot of knowledge and it directly effected the way I program today in the process of developing it. Before that little DBZ game, I knew very little about lists, savefiles, "artificial intelligence", other various aspects of DM & general programming, and even utilized quick error fixing by way of "fix [insert broken feature]" verbs....Just having the willpower to try and make my game great spurred me to learn a lot more about the DM language itself and attempt to perfect my programming style for the better which I believe is reflected to some capacity in the games I've released since my DBZ project. So despite my game's shortcoming, it truly holds a certain spot in my heart knowing that it played a big part in how I program.

Before my current avatar however, I used the hub icon to my first RTS game, Ultimate Strife which also meant a lot to me having been my first hub entry to be published to a Byond section. For the newer members out there, before guilds were fully implemented there were strictly five or so more game categories that would only accept games that they deemed playable and reflected well upon the Byond community. Although rejected a few times (I still have the emails btw), it was finally accepted and added to Byond Strategy and allowed to have its banner proudly displayed on the Byond home page randomly (Ahh, memories. Both the nostalgic layout of the Byond website and the fact that I was still using limewire and internet explorer ^_^).

Having heard my small tales, what exactly does your avatar(s) represent? It might not be quite as lengthy as mine but I'm still interested in knowing.
THE LAST AIRBENDER.

Jokes aside, mine atm is there because it reminds me of how far ive come as an artist. As do all the other avatars ive had. Plus it looks cool.
Mine simply represents the Kame sign originally worn by King Kai, but was then passed on to Goku following his training with King Kai.
Wow, I didn't know you could pack so much meaning into a 64x64 image. Lol.

Mine is just the letters "MW". Mainly because a lot of people call me MW, and it's shorter than anything else people call me (Merc and Merciless, but a few people call me "Warrior" which annoys the hell out of me for some reason).
the graw kitty going super saiyan
My avatar sometimes changes depending on what my current interests are. Typically it has a nice filigree border in either gold or silver, while the contents of the image may contain:

1) A character used to depict me, sitting in a cabin by a desk near a warm fire, wearing a formal blue tunic and being somewhat busy and professional.

2) Me in my administrator garb, a blue cloak and some shiny armor, walking along the road. This avatar sometimes is used if I'm working on an RPG-esque game.

3) A blonder version of me wearing a baggy "casual" brown tunic, sitting by a table in a cabin. There's a fireplace there too, but you can only see the corner.

4) A 3D rendered space ship orbiting a planet. Only used if I'm actively working on Solar Conquest - so it doesn't get used much.

5) A screen shot from Tomb Explorer, if I happen to be working avidly on that game.

The character sprites are pieced together from my roguelike graphics set.
Very interesting folks.
Mine (the blue viking) represents a pivotal time in my----wait..It's just a blue viking.

*edit* If I wanted to examine it a but more, I'd call it an avatar for a TrollPlaying game. Representing the mass degree of idiocy that has stood the test of time on the internet games that we pour time into. Not just in RPGs, but games in general.

The other one (on my page) actually has a meaning though. Examining it on a deeper level reveals some pretty cool things. I'm not going to explain them, but there's at least 5 byond references, some hidden cursewords, as well as a hidden subliminal message.

This is a drawing Snowfox made for me in '07, based off the icon I've been using on Icon Ultima for the last six years.

Indeed it is.
Mine is nothing because my membership ran out ;{
For a very long time I used an image from Peregrine City, my first BYOND game. I can definitely relate to what you were saying about having an attachment to a particular project.

For the last couple years I've been less active on BYOND and more active developing Regressia. During that time I've used a screenshot cropped down the 56x56, with a Regressia styled menu border around it. I've changed the screenshot every month to something that looks cool, but something people won't know what exactly it is.

Now that Regressia is finished, I've taken some of those avatars (some of the better ones), added a couple others, and offered them for other people to use.
Very nice indeed.
AWESOME!
