Hello,

In my further hunt for a hosting service I have narrowed it down to FarawayHost and SliceHost. FarawayHost is more in my favor because of it's low prices, but if you see a reason why SliceHost may be better please post.

This is what I would most likely go with on FarawayHost:

Tier 2 - $8.99/month
- 100 MB Ram Limit

Includes:
- one world may be hosted
- includes webhosting package.
- $0.99 per additional world

6 Worlds = $6.99/m
8.99+6.99=$15.98/m
$82 Current Money
Enough for 5 months

If I choose SliceHost this is what I would go with:

Plan RAM Storage BW Price

256 256MB 10GB 100GB $20/m

Unlimited worlds? Not specified.

$82 Current Money
Enough for 4 Months

Even If I could have unlimited worlds with SliceHost I would be getting another month of hosting in for FarawayHost.

Discuss.
I'd go with slice.

I would say Farawayhost because it lasts longer and all you need is 6 things hosted, hope I helped =)

lol.
Well, if you get Slicehost, it really opens up a ton of options, such as hosting your own site, or hosting games on your slice for money.
Talk to Tib.
It really depends on if you need an entire server dedicated to your stuff. Slicehost provides you with what they call a virtual server, what that means is you're basically getting your own partition with your own install of Linux. You get full and total control of your slice and can install whatever you want on it and do with it what you please (legally) as long as you don't hit your limits.

Hosting providers like Farawayhost are specific to BYOND needs for the most part and you only get a limited user account on their server and limited access to server resources.

So to summarize: Slicehost if you need more than just a small game or two hosted. Farawayhost-type providers otherwise.

Airjoe also has a pretty good little company for BYOND-related hosting too, he's a little bit more trustworthy than some of the staff at Farawayhost (sorry guys, but you know what I'm talking about). The link evades me right now but I'm sure you can find it if you look around some.

Yes I tried it before, but it didn't work out very well.

Yes, unfortunately I've been having a bad time with my provider- not that they're bad, but they're gaining so much in popularity every time they get a new server, it fills up, and they don't have any sort of queueing system so it's hit or miss. I'm checking daily now for the new server, because I have several people interested and ready to pay, I just can't get anything myself!

Maybe you could try to hire people to try and get the servers? So you yourself don't have to sit there daily trying to get a server.
