Finally! The first gameplay video of Zelda: Shadow of the Triforce is here for all to see! I would like to thank my good friend ProtoZX for making this video as his computer is far better qualified.

One thing about the video, some of the sound is a little bit off. You might hear some sound effects before they are actually suppose to be heard. It's not that big of a deal.

I have no idea how to make the video appear on my post. I've tried copying that code but it never works properly. For now, you'll have to deal with this.

Of course, that is only the first cutscene. I also have some basic gameplay of the begining for you all to see! Credit to ProtoZX once again for making this video.
(Some of the mids in the end of this video don't appear to work for ProtoZX, so you can't hear them as they're supposed to be heard. I'm working on resolving that issue. Also I'd like to apologize for some of the weird noises you hear in the cutscene with Impa and I think one other time in this video.)

Thanks, and I hope you enjoy the videos!

As far as recent updates go, I can't say that much has been done. I'm basically working on the last half of the dungeon where you work to get the master key to face the boss. I'm also working on adding pots to pick up and throw.
Nice
Looks good. Story is a little sketchy though.

Other than that, looks just like something on SNES! GREAT WORK MAN!

I don't understand. Could you explain?

Once again, not trying to be rude but it looks like it was put together in 5 minutes tops? On the surface, it seems like theres not much there and you've given me the entire story in 5 minutes or less. Just didn't really captivate me is all.

I'm not trying to diss, just offer constructive critisicm (gah I can't spell that word at all)
Looks very nice, I will be looking forward to reading/seeing more updates on this game.
Proof of why 99.9% of fan games suck. This looks, feels and plays nothing like a real Zelda game. Gameplay changes are one thing, but you're not even in the ballpark when it comes to capturing the style of the Zelda series.

What all of this amounts to is pretty much just a "Zelda skin", or "Zelda theme". If you scrap the graphics and music and make your own, this looks like it has the potential to be a fun little game worth checking out.
The LoZ series has never been narrated, it has been "told" as it was happening. Remove the narration, and find a way to immerse the player without giving too much background information of the character himself.

Too many NPC icons clash with the rest of the icons, I think they're from the GB versions. They don't suit the game.

Why is there no music playing in the dungeon? Music is a huge part of the LoZ series!

The intro video looks fabulous, but a couple of suggestions:

1. Hire a writer, or at least take some time to improve your writing.

2. When scrolling along that huge ladder, could you replace that with something a little more interesting? Its mostly wall and ladder, with a few gaps in between, and a nice landscape or dungeonscape of some kind would be much more enjoyable to watch.
After checking out the video on Bootboy's post, attack seems like a hastle... up down, oops go back and then turn around so I can face the right way! Maybe make it so that link swings thru a few couple of tiles instead of just the one infront of him?

In some of the Zelda Classic adventures, you'd start out with a thrust attack but you could learn the multi-tile swing attack later on. It made for a nice upgrade.

You are a very blunt person.

There is dungeon music. The person making the video appeared to not be able to hear it..

I wrote to Silk:

Scratch that. Your comment was actually fairly hurtful and threw away a lot of my respect for you, as you want done with my game. You basically said my game is garbage, which it isn't. I've worked very hard on this. Criticism is well appreciated, but your comment was purely hateful.
Ignoring the OBVIOUS troll named SilkWizard, it looks very promising as a Zelda fangame!

You know that I'm blunt. Have you only "respected" me before because you've agreed with what I've said?

As a Zelda game, it's a complete failure. Nothing about the game -- from the style of presentation, to the maps, the dialogue, to the general layout of everything presented in the videos -- makes this a Zelda game. Worse, stuff like the mismatched graphics and shoddy writing just conveys a general feeling of sloppiness/laziness.

No, apparently criticism isn't appreciated. I didn't just say "your game sucks", I pointed out what I thought is wrong with it, and I gave you suggestions for improvement. I also pointed out that it looks like you potentially have a fun game buried beneath all of the poorly implemented Zelda trappings.

Do yourself a favor and lose the Zelda skin and make this game your own.

What you pointed out was wrong was the entire thing. You know I'm not going to scrap the entire project and do it over again after all this time. I really thought better of you, but clearly you have no skills in encouragement. You also do not point out what is poorly implemented about it. That would be nice to know from your point of view.
I don't think Silk was being intentionally HARSH, brash, yes, but harsh, no.

I agree with Silk, it doesn't play like a Zelda game, but it shows a lot of promise. If you made it an original game you wouldn't have to live up to the standards of the series (anything with a fan base is going to dissect any attempt to recreate the game)

Either way, keep up the good work, hope to see the final finish product!

The flip side to that is if you make it an original game, you'll be ditching the players who are only interested in playing the game because they like Zelda. It worked for anime.

Not to mention the passion a fangame gives the maker of it when he likes that particular game.
