The .rsc does not contain the source code. It actually contains files referenced inside of single-quotes.

Ergo, an RSC extractor cannot be used to steal source code.
Decompilers, which are used for that purpose, basically produce an unreadable mess that requires serious, long-term effort to make readable and usable again, and 'fixing' a decompiled game into a state where it will compile, run or work is probably more effort than just making a game from scratch is. Lots of people claim to have these things, and 99% of them are liars, plain and simple. That I know of (as in, I've seen it with my own eyes and know it exists,) one person has a tool for extracting data from compiled games. |
What Deathguard said. However, if you meant a DMB Extractor, than the most they could do is nab some icons from your game.

Although, there are three people, to my knowledge, who possess a decompiler. Hobnob and Slurm, both seemingly vanished from the community, and Dan (I believe Lummox JR may have access to it as well). |

I don't keep up with the names. All I know is a few years back I messed around with a program called "DMB Extractor" that would extract image files(.dmi, .png, etc.) from a BYOND game that you were logged into. Didn't do anything with the icons, of course.

If you got images and sound files from the program, then you are extracting files from the RSC. The DMB stores the map and code. |
