Right now everyone's complaining about how this is turning into "WoWscape" and how horrible it will be. Blah blah blah, the typical stuff that happens when any little change in an MMO occurs. This is the best state I've ever seen Runescape in. They're adding more elements to the game's incredibly dull battle system which is something they should have done years ago. The players are going to log in, realize how this a step forward and not a step backward and all the useless QQing will almost instantly die off.

I quit Runescape years ago for that very reason. The combat was just incredibly bland. The only time you used a skill was if you had runes and could use magic. Other than that, combat was simply watching your character smack something with a sword, and if the fight was difficult, you'd occasionally open your inventory and eat a lobster or something and return back to pummeling your enemy. Now, you get to use skills ( like dropping out of the sky and slamming your sword down on your opponent ) , you can "dash" toward enemies to initiate fights, you can do AoE/cleave damage, and some other things I'm probably forgetting. The beta is supposedly coming up soon. I can't remember my old account info but I'll definitely be giving this game a chance to redeem itself.
