The book mobs in the basement of the church seem to be absolutely useless. By the time you leave the tutorial they give nothing, so perhaps they could have an uncommon chance (like 40-60%) to drop an item like a spell page that gives the player one of their first skill/spells that can only be resold for 1copper or nothing.

Skills aren't like items which can be sold, I believe their use is for testing skills on them, but I'm not sure.

Oh, well that's not a bad idea either if they could survive longer and perhaps say the damage outloud as text?

You can see damage in the "Log" tab, and if you really want to practice you can hit a training dummy.

Enchanted books can withstand more punishment now, to test spells. More powerful versions of books may show up in the future. | |
As of 0.336 i kill them in a single blow or skill, but perhaps that is because i am level 20 now.
