Ok, Well i have bought approx 250 Byond Memberships for people i hardly know or don't.
I'm not rich like some might speculate, I'm just a working guy who likes to see a smile and hear the word thanks. I've bought these memberships over a lot of years.. so i had allot of time to accumulate such numbers.
So i would like to restrict the amount of memberships i do give out and also how to give them instead of my usual raid on chatters and make sure everyone on their has a memberships like i sometimes do lol.
Now if anyone has any suggestions on how i should choose whom i give the memberships to it'd be a great help? some sort of event or reward for something.. but i don't really have any decent ideas for this.
i used to just give out memberships to any programmer on chatters i saw since they are the most hardworking and deserving members of Byond due to there continued working and dedication to Byond.

do a event and the winner get 1 year membership
|
You should give it to friend(me) and people who deserve it. I also like the raffffffllle idea.
|
I say you give LxBluntEdge. He's a good guy, actually.
|
I would ask one for myself, but that is rather selfish and I don't really have much to prove my worth.
So, I would recommend Volkov911. He works hard on his game and doesn't get much recognition from the players for it. |
Doing a raffle per month would get tiring.
I'd suggest you keep giving memberships to people who deserve it. (Usually the people on chatters, or the people that help out on the Dev forums) IDK, up to you, really. |
Also, just cause I'm nerdy like that, I made a simple raffle environment for you. :P

(Well computer_id is just for people who don't have multiple computers. client.ckey, client.computer_id, client.address and even a nice cookie from a hidden browser element would also be useful. |

(Well computer_id is just for people who don't have multiple computers. client.ckey, client.computer_id, client.address and even a nice cookie from a hidden browser element would also be useful. Feel free to add that yourself. I thought about it before I made that snippet but didn't add it in the end because I think the IP/computer_id/browser cookie check is too easy to spoof. Someone might be that desperate. |
Between IP, computer_id, browser_cookie and ckey, they'd have to be really desperate. That combination would probably be above most of the average cheaters who think logging in again or simply changing computers will do the trick.
If you reapply the tricks each time they get caught attempting to cheat, then that should cover most of it. |
They'd have to clear cookies
Use a new key/make a new key Change IP Change Computer ID/Go on different household computer/laptop Personally I wouldn't go to all that trouble, but I know most people would. |
Reapplying the technique, that only works if they do all of those things on a computer which hasn't had it's computer_id recorded.
And if they don't know that said sneaky user is using every one of those tricks, I doubt most people would think to clear their Internet Explorer cookies (especially if they don't use IE as a primary browser). |
Wow. That's insane, and really nice of you. Instead of giving random people memberships, and instead of giving people who they say in the comments "Give so and so a membership", I'd say you should make people earn it. The idea on Chatters is good, maybe hardworking programmers without memberships? I'm pretty sure there are a few out there. Or, some sort of contest would be pretty fun.
Ultimately though, it's up to you. |
