I was told twelve times today that ".mid files cause lag". This is not true. Lag depends on a host's connection only. The "Lag" which you speak of is called downloading resources. When you download resources, everything freezes so that the download goes smoother.
If I hear another newbie say that "lag = midi" or "songs cause lag" I'm going to take a brick and fondle their spine.

no songs don't cause lag. Its the loading of them that does.

Lag cannot be caused by an input of data. Lag, regardless of what, is always either the host's or the player's connection.
