Back in 2002, I had the silly idea of making a game engine which would allow people to make their own 2d space adventure games like Ur-Quan Masters (Star Control II) and the Starflight series. And I, foolish as I was, started to program such a project.
After a while, and having a small amount of testers working on it, I realized that I would have to reprogram it in order to make it more efficient. Before I could do that, I went to California, and development stalled. But last year, I picked up the remnants and began working on it again, reprogramming what I had done from scratch until I was forced to stop again - indeed, last year wasn't productive at all, with all of the problems which came up.
But I have managed to continue my work, and I am currently at a level of development where I need people to test it hands-on and tell me what is working and what not, what needs to be improved and what is okay.
People who are interested have to be aware of the following: I expect people to be interested, motivated to play around with it and actively give suggestions, not be afraid to use the scripting language it uses, and also be aware that this program is at an early state. The scripting language is quite developed, but there are no NPCs, no combat, no pretty planet surfaces to explore, nor a fancy trading interface. So basically, I expect the trigger and scripting language to be tested.
I can't offer anything for it, except a symbolic pat on your back, and a heartfelt thanks, but if you are interested in helping out, please post in the comments why you are interested and I'll get back to you.
Thank you,
splatty
I'm gewd at testin'! I swear.
