Ok so i host an Icon Ultima server and it was working fine however when i updated to byond Version 494 when i rehosted my server and attempted to join the options and messages window would open up but it wouldn't launch the game and it would just stay on that screen i tried letting the game load up but even after 4 hours the game didn't launch and the options and messages window was still setting there trying to connect along with my self other players that get on my server couldn't join so any help is welcomed
|
i did as you suggested and it would seem i can host other games and me along with my other players seem to have been able to join them so only Icon ultima has this problem but as to why it won't allow players to join when being hosted by dream daemon i have no idea

You need to take this up with someone in charge of the game then, as it is obviously game-specific.
|
alright thank you so much for your time and thank you for helping towards the resolve of this problem i'll start trying to get in contact with the owner of the game.

I tried out IU with 494 on the Tibbius server where one of the primary servers is ran, and it appears to run perfectly fine. Are there any errors in runtimes.iul? I recommend probably backing up your world.iu to a different directory and then try hosting, just to make sure there's not some sort of corruption.
|
i would have thought so aswell however i can't connect to any of the servers even the main servers
|
Now that's odd. Just to try to rule out a general connection error, can you try connecting to byond://tibbius.com:9996? That's the same server as the official 24/7 server. If you can connect to that, I'd like to try to do some more debugging with you at a time when you're available.
|
yes it seems i can connect it takes me to a white screen and the game title is labeled as "Test" as for the debugging try setting up a certain time and i'll try to be there

This is very much related so I'll post here; since I've updated to the latest version of byond(494), there have been some minor issues with games staying on the 'Connecting' state and never canceling out. I've had someone else report the problem to me aswell.
Now I find this odd because it's not one host or one game, it's just .dmb files in general. It's occured rarely while solo-testing projects I've been working on, even when trying to directly access the .dmb file. [EDIT] Additional Note: Both myself and the person who reported the issue to me run on Windows 7. [END EDIT] |
I'd suggest it's nothing to do with a combination of Win7 and 494, as that's what I'm running and all games I've tested work just fine.

Thanks for taking the time to test that point.

@Keep Out, NNAAAAHH: Try downgrading to a version below 494.1126 and then connecting. I'm pretty sure this might be similar to Writing A New One's problem with Eternia.

It dosn't happen every time, for me at least. Like I said orriginaly, it's only a minor problem. The guy who reported the same issue said it happend every time, but just reconnecting works perfectly for me. So, it'd be hard to actualy test if it was fixed, since it only happens on chance.
|
i downgraded back to version 493 and connecting and hosting the game work just fine for me now i don;t know if its byond version 494 thats having an issue or the game in particular =/

If it does, check your ports and firewall settings.
If it still does it and your ports are correct and firewall isn't blocking it, then submit a detailed bug report about it.
