Over the years I've enjoyed multipul Zelda games. From the SNES one, to the newest Twilight Princess. I have found that while playing these games, there is something about them that well... Sucks me in. I don't know if it's the music, the sound effect, or the adventure at hand. All I do know is for some reason while playing Zelda games I sometimes find myself feeling asthough I am inside the game(odd right?). My point of writing about this is I'd like to ask... Am I the only one? Have any of you found yourself playing a Zelda game and then realizing that you feel asthough your the one actually saving the world and it's not just some stupid game at the end of a hand held controler?....
I guess I'm just as nerdy has I have always feared..

I think part of the draw for Zelda games is that the world usually feels so real, full, mysterious, and interesting (among other adjectives) This is especially true for the newer iterations and their beautiful 3D worlds (but still certainly applies all the way back to the original NES version)
There's also this feeling of alone-ness/isolation (even though the world is usually full of people in their respective towns, for the most part Link is usually out in the wild or deep in a dungeon by himself) which serves to strengthen the bond between the player and Link... It's just you and him against the world...
Then there's the story... Zelda games offer a really great Good vs. Evil story, with an iconic Hero battling against an iconic Villain... There's always a feeling of being special, "the chosen one"... You're not just some random character fighting monsters, you're a legendary Hero, usually just waking up from his normal life, and being thrown into his destined role, and the both of you "grow" into it through the course of the game...
Of course, there are many games that use the above elements to create an immersive experience, but some of them simply do it a little better than others... Zelda is one of those gems...
