Keywords: overrated
(Been extraordinarily busy with work...)

I was commuting to work this morning and talk of baseball's all-star game filled my favorite sports radio show. One particular topic was about whether Derek Jeter was overrated... got me thinking about the concept of _overrated_.

To be considered overrated, one probably should be in the public eye and probably revered in some way -- perhaps by a big contract, maybe fame, television/media exposure. Then take this and compare that to their talent or quality.

So I just started thinking of overrated things and people... please feel free to add to the list:

Food: Starbucks
Youtuber: smosh
Actor: Ben Stiller
Website: Myspace
Politician: Barack Obama
Wannabe: Joe the Plumber
Government thing: Medicare
Clothes: little black party dress
Movie: Twilight
Singer: Miley Cyrus
Athlete: Kobe Bryant
Holiday: Fourth of July
Game: No Limit Texas Holdem
Language: java
OMG so scary: H1N1, aka Swine Flu
BYOND: Dan (not Masterdan).
Michael Jackson. Sorry, had to say it.
Joe the Plumber was really one of those temporary political memes that come and go.
I agreed with you on everything but, Barack Obama. ;D
Hey someone has to drop 80 points in a game.

I must respectfully decline your opinion.
Scoring 81 points in one game is pretty overrated I'm sure.

As will most. ;D
o.o

Disney is overrated, for sure.

Going to agree with you on that one.
What about...American Idol/ *blank* of love shows and The Hills?
Couldn't agree more about No Limit Texas Holdem. People jump at the chance to tell you how much they love it but when it comes down to it the closest they've actually come to playing is watching it in 30 second bursts while channel surfing.
Chuck Norris.
Social networks lol
Smosh? Overrated? No, you're thinking of Fred.

I play No Limit Texas Holdem with my friends all the time o.o. We have a table dedicated to it in the basement. I actually enjoy watching it as well.

@Fugsnarf: Wait a second, you just said is Michael Jackson over-rated? He's an inspiration for many artists. He was the first African-American to enter MTV, he gave a crap load to charities, and is one of the most famous people in the world(Arguably). And now he's dead, and you're "dissing" him? Very mature.

As to what other people said, in my opinion Chuck Norris and American are very over-rated. I loved Disney when I was really little so I couldn't really call it over-rated! And who's Joe the Plumber?

Micheal Jackson may not have been overrated musically, but certainly was personally. The fact that the media coverage portrays him as some sort of hero DESPITE the guy's extremely questionable lifestyle and outlook makes him very overrated at the current moment.

Also, Chuck Norris is deliberately overrated. That's the whole freaking point of Chuck Norris jokes.
@Vexonater: I don't get what you're saying is over-rated? The crimes he was accused to do? Him being a hero? What are you focusing on here?

I don't see how what I said was unclear in any fashion.
