Ask one of the people what the other person will say he is. So if you ask the truth person, he will say that the other person will say that he is the liar. If you ask the liar, he will say that the other person will say he is the truth. For the first: Confuse the guards so they won't notice you're passing through.
Second: One of the coconuts were cut in half. | |

Theres an near infanite number of answers for the second one. One of three was a coconut. One of the people was killed by a falling coconut. Someone went to another island and got a coconut. Someone grew a coconut tree.
