Heard anything interestingly lately about Linux?
Probably the biggest news I've heard as of late is concerning the kernel incorporating some graphics management. When Ubuntu 9.04 came out, they used kernel 2.6.29 which was in the transition stage and the intel graphics card had really shoddy support, which is sad because the intel graphics driver has been open source from the get go.

The other bit of news I consider important (more on a personal level) is the amount of Android devices coming out. Supposedly there are supposed to be 20 by the years end. I also heard that the Sony Walkman will use Android in an attempt to contend with iPods and Zunes.
Breaking News: Linux is now officially recognized as the Dragonball Zeta of Operating Systems.
Latest I heard, Microsoft is contributing GPL code to the Linux kernel. This was observed by a squadron of pigs soaring over the frozen wastes of hell.

In addition, Nokia bought Trolltech, changing its name to Qt Software. That's old news; the newer news is that they are porting Qt to both Maemo and the newly open-source Symbian kernel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbian_OS#Becoming_open_source), making Qt a major player on the mobile phone.

Yes, I put Maemo and Mobile Phone in the same sentence: Nokia is preparing to sell the N900, a Maemo-powered iPhone-sized mobile phone.

Yes! A true open-source phone from Nokia! Moar here: http://mobile-review.com/review/nokia-rx51-n900-en.shtml
