Well, with my materials library, I couldn't resist applying my icon changing library to.. absolutely everything. I discovered RPG Maker graphics, and how to use them effectively. If anyone knows the legality of using their icons or not, I'd be interested. I don't intend to make money off of Maeva or anything, and, as you can see, the icons I use are heavily modified, but they serve as an excellent base for the kinds of things I'll be needing in my maps. I know a lot of people on BYOND use RPG Maker graphics, and they don't use them well. I think I did a pretty sweet job.

Probably even more impressive than this system is the fact that it loads and runs very smoothly. BYOND can be thanked once again for that. No one responded to my post in the Developer How-To (that I know of) about map cells, but I came up with my own little workaround. I keep a few associative lists of turf and obj types and cache their icons, so new objects and turfs being created will check if they have a cache icon before attempting to generate their own. Also, large objects/turfs, will check if there is a list of overlays cached for them as well. I'm making a variety of other speed improvements... again. So stay tuned!

Again, if anyone is interested in making maps for Maeva. I could use the help.
You can't even tell that you're using RPGMaker graphics!

Me like.
Same here. Very nice, I can't wait to play it.
I could map, I think i'm quite good at utilizing the available turfs/objs that a game provides.
wow sexy. Couldn't even tell they were from RM2K/3/XP... unless you were using one hellava chipset as the base.
The RPG Maker series for PC, until recetnly has not been for retail in the states. As a matter of fact, the company made it illegal to even import the software if you were from the USA.

Techanlly speaking, if you are using OFFCIAL Ascii Brain RPG Maker graphics and didn't pay the licesening fee to use it, then you are breaking the law. And the only current version of RPG Maker USA citizens can licesne is the XP version. So legally you could only be using RPG Maker XP tiles.

If it is a public domain or freeware tile set, then your good to go.
Personally, I thought the old icons suited it more, but oh well still looks great! For the times that I got to test Maeva, I had a wonderful time. Keep up the damn good work!
Looks terrific to me.
