This issue has been resolved.
I just tried enchanting Elven Gear with a Brute Crystal and Swift Crystal. Both times I got a message saying it can't be enchanted with those, but the Elven Gear's name changed to "Brute Elven Gear" and "Swift Elven Gear" each time.

that bug has already been fixed. (it is in the 0.8 changelog)
