I'm pretty fond of the Internet, if you hadn't guessed, but it does have its attendant annoyances. One of them is the inexorable accumulation of accounts and passwords. Some time ago, the folks at work added one server too many, and I said to myself, "Enough!" So I found this program: Oubliette.
The idea is that it keeps all your account names and passwords in an encrypted file. Now, you DO have to remember the password you choose for the file! But as long as you can remember that one, you're home free.
As far as I can tell, there's no adware/spyware involved. It's not quite as intuitive as I'd like (for example, the icon to create a new entry is on the middle of the toolbar; the first icon creates a whole new password file, not a new password entry) but it's not rocket science either.

I use a tiny little notebook for keeping track of my passwords. It has a great interface! I can write new entries with a couple strokes of a pen! =P

But here's the brilliant part: the handwriting is so messy that nobody else but me can read it! =P

The other alternative: Use a Mac!
Mac OS X has a concept called Keychain which, you guessed it, keeps track of your passwords and accounts so you can often just remember the password to unlock the Keychain. |
Yeah, I either just write them down or let firefox store them. Sometimes I type them into a notepad document. I don't really have to worry about anybody getting into my computer.
