So anyway, I'm running drastically out of Anime to watch in my household. And with my internet connection, piracy just isn't an option for me.

So being desperate and not wanting to resort to Air Gear, I decided to resort to Inuyasha (I mentioned desperate, right?)

So anyway, I'm about fourteen episodes into the series now, and really, after the fourteen episodes, I think I know what the hell is going on! There's "catching up" for late joiners and there's "reliving the entire previous two episodes and call-backs to ones further back". Seriously, if someone joins this late in the series, they need to acquire copies of earlier episodes and catch-the-hell-up.

And it gets worse than ten minute synopses. Mid-way though an episode, the protagonists will suddenly jump back to "I remember how I first came about to this place. It's all because my family has done something or other, and we live in this slightly abnormal place for most people my age. Because of this, I accidentally performed an action which, over a period of time I'll probably relate to you in following sentences, lead me to be in my current predicament. Now as I was saying, that period of time contained things such as this and other things such as that. It's good to get all this off my chest, because it builds up and really start to feel sad... Oh! That's right, we were in the middle of an action scene, silly me!"

Come on! I know! I watched it just before. Hell, the kids on PayTV know, and they watched it anywhere between a day, a week and a month ago. It's kinda hard to forget, you told us LAST TIME.

It better not keep on doing this for the entire forty-something DVDs. Or else the episodes will eventually just become those annoying catch-up episodes they have mid-way through longer running anime series (Gundam Wing, anyone?).

On another note, the series isn't that bad. I can understand how it's considered Dragon Ball Z, for Girls (language warning on that comic, don't click if your mummy gets mad at swearing), but meh, I used to watch Sailor Moon before school, I've seen a fair bit of Card Captor Sakura, and I currently own (well, my brother owns, I only own two DVDs) most of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle.
I have just one thing to say, "ISORATH?!?!"
That's a waste of money. You do realize that Inuyasha the anime series was discontinued, right?

I actually enjoyed Air Gear. Though reading the current novels, I think it'll die really fast if they continue the anime show after the 26th episode.
Yeah, the inyusha series is pretty decent but as you've guessed correctly, all or most of the episodes are as you say. Being set up that way, when new episodes did come out, you'd either think they were old or that the old episodes were new because they would all just kind of blur together...I gave up on the series after a while..

Also by piracy not being an option, did you mean by way downloading or by streaming? There are quite a few streaming sites...
I have a problem with the review sections of a lot of anime episodes. Granted, they're sometimes way too long. However, more importantly, they're often nothing more than a "best-of" collection from the previous episode. There's little explanation of who people are or why things are happening. They'd rather display the log of a battle than acknowledge the motivations of the participants.

PS: Is there anything in this list of free and legal anime sites that works in your area? I've seen the entire series (167 episodes?) and I'm guessing you've watched the best of what Inuyasha has to offer.
That would be filler my friend. It usually happens with cartoons based on ongoing comic books.

Granted, I don't know if there's any show that's as bad as inyusha as you described (or even that early on in the series).
A few Animés I prefer include:
- The Candidate for Goddess (a.k.a. "Pilot Candidate"): A relatively short series that I liked.
- Hikaru no Go: Maybe it's that go is one of my favorite hobbies, but this is a personal favorite. :]
- Yu Yu Hakusho: another personal favorite, not much to say here. :]
- Cowboy Bebop: I know you've seen this, it's impossible not to be a fan. >_>
@Snowfox:
Doesn't really bother me if a series is discontinued or not. Tsubasa was discontinued as well. And IIRC, the final episode of the second series leaves you at a cliff hanger.

@ACWraith & Mecha Destroyer JD:
Internet connection is too inferior to download, stream or otherwise do anything with large files. Attempting to do so leaves the internet completely useless for everyone until the file has finished downloading/streaming. It's just not worth it.

@Hiead:
Seen and own all of Yu Yu Hakusho (minus the movies) and own Cowboy Bebop twice over. Never heard of the other two.

@Maggeh:
I might have over dramatised it a little. But there are points in that show when I'm sitting there thinking "wow, if I hadn't seen this in four episodes, I might actually care".

Use torrents, cap your speeds so that they don't tax your bandwidth too much. It may take a few extra days to finish, but it's cheaper and you can still use your connection. A good torrent client like uTorrent will let you limit the number of peer connections, your upload rate, and your download rate.
I only have 26kbs to download with. Capping at anything over 6kbs will resort in other network users becoming angry. And I don't have a week to download and watch a single episode.
Nah, just let it run in the background for a week or so, you get the whole thing and with uTorrent's small footprint you won't really know it's there (besides a tray icon). You can also schedule bandwidth usage. Have a time you're not online (doubtful?): schedule that time for the full awesomeness of your 26kbps connection!
Nah, still not worth it.
Bah, almost all animes are like this.
Go Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle! Also CCS and Sailor Moon, but TRC is currently my favorite of the three :d

Not to this extent. Though all the anime I've seen so far, I don't recall ever having noticed the call backs this much.

Nearly every episode has a call back to episode one and how the journey began. And every episode (mid way through) has a call back to the latest development (omg demon blood! omg sword! omg evil sword! omg Naruko! omg something!)

I'm going to be hearing about this backlash wave for the next twenty episodes...

Oh, and the plot holes are many. *nods*
