In my opinion it would be Airsoft Guns due to their realism and accuracy. They have overtaken paintball to in popularity.

All of the airsoft places around here force you to use biodegradeable pellets.

It's not the norm, however. Douchebags continue to litter prime paintball fields with their trash.

There's also the bad sportsmanship. Using normal pellets means there's no distinguishing marker to tell if a person has actually been hit or not. You're forced to deal with the childish "I got you," followed by "NO YOU DIDN'T!!!"

Unless you're using specially designed paint rounds for your specific gun, which are notorious for failing and fucking up your gun, you're left with just a very fancy Nerf gun.

I can't speak for where you live, but all the places around where I live you have to use biodegradable pellets. If you don't, well you get in huge trouble. They usually require that you can only use pallets you buy at the fields.

I also didn't have problems with bad sportsmanship when I played a few times. Maybe it's because the place I went to it was an airsoft only field, and everyone was pretty much regulars there. I don't imagine the people that don't actually like doing military simulations (likely the thing airsoft has over paintball without having to heavily modify a gun), will show up at these places.

Edit: Also Airsoft is more popular than paintball? What.
