AVG is pure crap...and has always been pure crap. It always finds small problems that aren't really affecting you, and will rarely ever help you when you're having a big computer-destroying problem.

People think AVG is so great because it always shows them a list of little problems and make them go "Oh my god, my other anti-virus didn't tell me about this!"

AVG works ok, the nice thing is that it isn't very resource heavy.
You should be supplementing it with other periodic virus scans as well. I use the http://housecall.trendmicro.com free scan. Between that and AVG I don't usually have any problems. |
On topic: lol that sucks, ive used AVG once, awhile ago and it didnt seem to help me. I heard Fsecure was pretty good.
