It looks like D4RK3 54B3R is our competition winner for the Sanctum map, with an amazing 6750 points. Way to go D4RK3 54B3R! You're the one and only person who gets to win the Sanctum Award! Also of note was Danny Roe's awesome score of 6318. Not sure how you guys do it, but I'm impressed. I'm also planning to start another competition shortly, but that may have to wait until tomorrow as I don't have another map setup yet.

Thanks everyone for participating!

Well done D4RK3, I was looking forward to trying to beat your score when you first beat mine. Unfortunately Im not as fast on a touch-pad as I am with a mouse =p

Regardless, beating that would have been a fun, allbeit time consuming, challenge.
Huzzah. :D
You can't imagine how much time I've put into getting my speed down.

I estimated that Danny's time is around 58 seconds. Only recently could I have gotten mine down to 47.5.
It was really tough getting over that first hurdle of finishing this thing in under 60.

I think that if Danny were using a mouse, he would have gotten this medal. :P

Here's to the next competition. :]
I couldn't even beat the level. =(

I'd like to re-release these competition levels without a timer for people who haven't been able to finish it. Playing other people's levels with a timer and getting stuck, but not having time to figure it out is frustrating. However, if I use other people's maps for these competitions, then I'm not sure if they'd want me removing their timers and re-releasing them. :P
Dam congrats D4rk3 but I'm still number uno!!

I like that idea, because I could get pretty far, but I'd run out of time.
Do you think it would be better to release maps without a time limit, or just to increase the time limit notably so that players have more time to think things out? Perhaps doubling the time limit?

You should add a new feature to Tomb Explorer where certain maps can either run without a time limit or on a time limit.
What would be the incentive for players to play with a time limit?

Good point. Maybe it could be a score-related incentive, or something.

Games without a time limit could just not be scored. I honestly prefer the timer to count up and not down. Meaning that you can still aim to do it as fast as you can, the faster the better score, but if you take 6 hours to do it, you'll just not be anywhere near the top of the score board.

I thought of that, but then I thought, "What's the point, without a time, you can still beat the time anyways!" I still like the general idea, though. Maybe, if you are in an untimed game and beat the time limit, it can count as a timed game.
I could set it up so that the player can decide whether they want to play in "relaxed mode" or "challenge mode" when they first join the game, and then after that the change is just a menu click away. Given the poll results, I doubt most people would be opposed to ridding the game of time limits altogether, but for those who enjoy the extra challenge...
I just played a game that seems to solve the timer/no timer problem well. For each level there is a "challenge time" which the player must finish the level within in order to score points. After the challenge time runs out, the player is informed that they won't be getting any score for this run. However, they can still play through the level and figure it out, then play through it again if they want to go for a score.

Sound like a good solution for Tomb Explorer?

Yeah, that was kind of like my latter selection, I like the idea. Team Explorer has actually deterred me with time limits; I'll try to play a map, and it will, quite literally, rape me with its time limit.
