I started working with AGOKII and trying to fix it/make it work and I got fed up with real time strategy/click drag systems. Even when I got it working, things didn't flow right and once I got enough guys on screen the system seemed to draggg on.

So, I started working on a new version of AGOK's. The latest version I believe will be the best yet.

If you've ever played Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Nobunaga's Ambition or Gemfire then you can kind of picture then what the board that you play on will look like.

For starters:

Combat will be turned based. You will recruit normal troops, and then outfit them with equipment. The equipment will be pikes, spears, swords, axes, maces, daggers, stealth suits, plate mail, spiked suits, and much more. You will attack someone and declare war. Once the combat starts, there will be a new map where you position your troops, and you take turns moving your troops. Your troops will eat food, and so you need to have enough food or the battle is over. How much you ration to your troops affects the quality of combat they perform. You will be able to recruit one unique unit, like an ogre or a dragon as a speciality unit that costs lots of money/resources but can turn the tide of battle. The unique units can only be used once every 3 months. However, you can have many unique units in storage to swap between until that unique once again becomes available.

Each military unit (a total of 5 units + one unique unit on each side of the battle field) will have a general assigned to them, with unique attributes. The generals level up, and can die. They can die of old age or during combat, when their unit is overcome.

Here's an example: Your archer unit moves north of a unit (2 squares north) while your swordsmen faces him head on. The enemy unit is also a swordsmen unit so they do 100% damage to each other. The archer then attacks from the side, and receives a 25% damage bonus for hitting them from the side. if from behind, 50% damage bonus. A pikemen unit then faces off with a dragon, and a pikemen unit has a 175% modifier against dragons. However, it's a -25% modifier against anything else.

City building will be much simpler. Unique resources will still be a part of the game and trading will be really huge, as well as technology.

You just don't worry so much about how you get the unique resources this time around. They come in naturally each month when you occupy a country. Each country produces different unique resources, which is where trading comes in. Some weapons are only useful against unique monsters. The dragon will be the most powerful unit in game, so pikemen will be a necessity if someone has one. You will know if someone has one, as common folk will speak of this amazing feat regularly.

Politics will play a big part. Currently the game is designed to support 10 players, each with their own country. A small game, and it's intended to be played out within 2-3 hours.

I will explain more as I get it programmed in and keep everyone updated.

+1 to you. Even if this was, say two years ago. :)
