I discussed this on the topic I made about what some of them do to cats and dogs. I already said it was a footage of what they did, and it sickened me.
You said the exact same thing i just said, bu-

Meh, i'm confused..
Of course that last comment can be applied very easily to Zeen's post that started this mess...

They don't report on all of the Chinese that treat cats nicely, that isn't good enough for the news... They only mention the terrible acts...

So, not being presented with any examples of good cat treatment by the Chinese, it's very easy to just comment on the negative, since it's the only view we get...

This does not mean that anyone thinks that that is the only way cats are treated, or that all of the Chinese do things like that... So when someone words their comment in a way that sounds like it's accusing them all of it, a normal person would rationally figure out that they can't really mean that...
Yeah, but the thing i'm trying to say is, if someone actually said "I hate the way Chinese people treat Cats", instead of "I hate the way some chinese people treat cats", then there would be many people picking her words apart and branding her as racist, just like Garthor is doing now...
And my point is that that isn't right...

No normal, sane, level-headed person would do that... (So when someone does do that, they are clearly screwed up)

But, there aren't enough people in the world that fit the above description...
Hehehe, but that doesn't mean most reporters are normal, san, level-headed, people..
*sane
WHY IS THERE NO EDIT COMMAND!?
They're not...

Actually, they probably are... The problem is that they're selling a product to the viewers... They need to sell the product that the viewers want... It's just that most of the viewers aren't normal, sane, or level-headed...

So, the reporters have to give them what they want...
They're not selling a product...This isn't a commercial. o.o
Actually, most reporters want the top story, so they actually have to pick apart someone's words, to make the story interesting, okay, Nick says "We are doing just fine, we have some problems to work out", then Jessica says "We're going trhough some hard times, but i think we can work it out", what they say is " Nick and Jessica are on the brink of DIVORCE!".
And why are they doing that? What does "Top Story" mean?

It's a product that they're selling...

More subscribers to the paper they write for, more ratings for their news broadcast, etc...

So yes, it is a product they're selling... And so, they need to make that product more appealing to the whacko masses...
The top story, really, because you see people like NightLine, CBS evening news, etc. What they all have in common is "We have a story exclusive to [enter news station/channel here]". So most people would usually flock to that station, to see what's going on, and really, more people are attracted to the people who are most informed and have the most interesting stories...
I was using TV as a example, not TIME, Tv Guide, or w/e magazines that come out.. lmao
Exactly... But what does that get them? More viewers = higher ratings = more sponsors = more money...

The news is a product that they're selling to make more money...

The problem comes from the fact that the customers of said product are generally nuts, so they need to sell versions of this product that appeals to nuts...
Okay, here's a good Example, after watching a episode of Oprah(The one where she talks about sex offenders), now, what they get from it is "Oprah has a bad past with sex offenders, click here/stay tuned to see exactly what we're talking about" that's their story for the day.
NEWS IS A P$RODUCT?
Yes... As I've been trying to explain...

Anything that someone produces is a "product"... Especially anything that someone produces that can be sold...

The news is "sold" to us, just like our shoes, video games, food, etc...

The news that we think sounds cooler (more sensational, usually) sells better...
WE BUY NEWS!? I THOUGHT WE WATCHED IT ON TV, WTF.
We buy into news? :D
