It's late, and I'm tired. Wasn't thinking too strongly, but thanks :P
Huh. I retract my statement that you're full of crap.

It's interesting to see that that actually exists, but it's disheartening to see how completely idiotically it was categorized. Just because something might be an AIM-specific feature doesn't mean the user wouldn't want it applied to any protocols that supported it. That belongs up front in a privacy tab. It remains, tragically, an example of one area where Pidgin blows Trillian completely out of the water.

I definitely don't disagree with the terrible organization, I think they've done a better job, at least a bit, of reorganizing their options in the beta that's coming out sometime.
Maybe Trillian Astra improves on their craptacular contact list. It's quite amazing though just how terrible that is.
I want to throw out a suggestion if you're still considering clients.

shaim is a client developed by a friend of mine in C#, using WPF.
Hrm, looks like it isn't far enough along for me to be sure of what its features are. Given the reason I want to abandon Pidgin is on account of what it doesn't do well, and the reason I took an instant loathing to Trillian is because of what it doesn't do at all, I'm afraid a beta project is going to fall far short of my demands.
