Keywords: techtree
I've been meaning to remove the extra keywords that Foomer inserted with his last review. He'll pay for sabotaging BYOND Strategy's navigation capabilities for his devious casual and single-player agenda. MUHUHAHAHAHA!

  • I attempted to add this ages ago, but there was no file to download and no persistent server. Rewritten to use more modern BYOND features and now offering a download, Falacy's Desert Defenders has been added to the guild. I guess you could call it a unit defense game. =)
  • Tayoko has posted before and after pictures of the graphical revamp of Efencea. Meanwhile, Vermolius has announced that the team has been joined by Guyst_X, who shall be replacing and increasing the amount of the game's audio. Other announcements include a change in build point usage, technology trees, new units, and new topologies.

The team is leaning towards the name Brainstorm. However, that key appears to have been taken since 2002 so it might not work well within BYOND.
  • Acebloke has been having electricity problems which have prevented him from reliably hosting Wargames. On the bright side, he found the time to update some other games to take advantage of BYOND's new scores and medals system so we can speculate about Wargames doing the same soon.
  • Adam753 updated Defender to take advantage of BYOND's new scores/medals system and art created by Redmoon30. Five new waves and some sort of surprise are also listed among the changes. Meanwhile, ZhugeXLiang offered up his take on a prior version of the game.
  • I had a bookmark involving Squeegy's Faith being updated, but the post appears to have been deleted. Under the sand-headed kitten on the bottom, modification dates have been given. He fixed some bugs and added a new belief system which appears to give followers more options. Currently, a heavily wooded map is also being worked on. (The map maker was already available.)
  • I believe that Tsfreaks updated Tower Defense: Clone Wars this week. He has claimed that details can now be found in his forum, but I'm not sure which posts are included. Perhaps efficiency was improved as Tsfreaks has been discussing the issue.

Tsfreaks has also been trying to form a team, called PopLava, which will focus on completing games with cycles of 30 days of planning and 30 days of implementation.
  • Mickemoose has announced a new fangame RTS with teams based on multiple franchises, called Epic Wars. I'd add it to the guild, but I'm not sure how often he is planning on hosting and there is no download available.
  • Tiberath has announced that he and others are creating some card games. I don't know how many of the games will have mechanics which match the guild, but since when has that stopped me from mentioning something? ;)

I don't know if Jamora1124 was in on the Chatters conversation that Tiberath mentioned, but he also mentioned that he might be creating a card game.
  • Ollyseeya might be starting a guild for marketing games. I think other people have spoken of creating such a guild before, but the results were not memorable. Hopefully, something will come of this attempt. Show me the money! =)
  • I've been thinking of ways to include BYOND's new scores and medals system into my games. Meanwhile, I roughly doubled my work on Gears & Peers. (Sadly, that only means that I worked on it 2 days this week instead of 1 or less.) In theory, most of the game logic is in, but I still have to work out some bugs. It took me a while to design the proper implementation, but my Phase library appears to have already been designed to let me do everything in a single handler. Somehow, I have a habit of designing libraries to be malleable and then forgetting that when I use them.

I've been meaning to mention this in BYOND Action, but I might as well bring it up here. Shoryuken has been promoting The Dogface Show, a video podcast hosted by Victor "dogface" Ratliff, who might be one of the coolest people in Street Fighter.

Got news? Like why I ask?
It's there. Every update I have ever made since publishing. Perma linked off of Tower Defense forum page. All bright green and what not. ;)

Here, a direct link. :)
Latest Updates

I have been making updates but due to the baseball season starting plus a revitalized work work effort, AND a new PopLava effort... I ain't gettin a whole lot done on it. I only have some clean up stuff though plus any new features. Oh, and medals of course.

Lummox apparently fixed the label flicker problem so that's super awesome.

As always, great post. Thanks.

Doh, I see it now... What kind of fool puts important information at the bottom of a forum?

Well.. I was wondering if I can lock the post toward the top for the last couple of days. Yes/No? :) Looking now actually... I didn't think you could.

Seeing people discuss such a guild in the past made me think, and feel more compelled to do it. Right now it's just a member of getting the guild going with a membership, and a few heads to it. I will let people know though obviously once that has been established. :)

Other then that though Tiberath, and the possible others that are doing card games now anyways. I think they'd fall more to casual, wouldn't they? Even though I can see where it'd be more strategy I think that is the place on BYOND it'd be more suitable(Depending on the actual games themselves).

Also can't wait to see the new audio works in Efencea, I don't naturally play that game way to often but I think it's pretty good and I don't see way to many of the newer games with audio.(Decent wise, for that matter)
That dogface show is actually pretty good. :)

A decision by the guild masters was passed (or is in the process of) that stated BYOND Casual was exempt from the one game per guild rule, because so many of their games can fall into other guilds.

So really, it all depends on the kind of card game we're making. The game I'm in the process of making, which has an expletive name, relies on both strategy and luck. It's pretty much half-and-half, so if that falls into the guild or not, I don't know. I'll publish the rules for it later on and let ACWraith decide.

makes sense, qouting Wiki here: "A casual game is a video game or online game targeted at a mass audience of casual gamers. Casual games can have any type of gameplay, and fit in any genre. They are typically distinguished by their simple rules and lack of commitment required in contrast to more complex hardcore games."

Hmm, I'm assuming Efencea would fall under that category now. But once we implement all the stuff mentioned, it would be closer to a more complex RTS rather the usual TD game.
@Ollyseeya: I agree that not every card game is a strategy game, but I believe it depends on the degree of randomness and I don't know the mechanics of the games in question yet. For instance, in a trading card game, players can change their odds by creating their own decks. Meanwhile, in PathWrath 2, I give all players a copy of the same deck so it's only the timing that is random. =)

@Tsfreaks: No, we don't have a form of sticky post yet. I'm pretty sure it's on the list after so many have requested it, but it will be a while... You do realize that I was making fun of myself for making forum notes the same way and then not noticing, right? =)

Yah. :) I submitted a request for it. Sort of a ++ reminder. :)
