The so recent buzz around BYOND is the Guildmasters looking for ways to improve their guilds activity and to increase BYOND's general population in general. (COME TO BYOND RPG, WE HAVE KITTENS!)

This had me (and probably others) wondering how exactly many of you are actually advertising your games. Granted not all games on BYOND would be worthy of actual advertisement (advertising DBZ Rip: #20330 would be about as useful to BYOND as advertising Rip: #40390), but the few that are could probably use some more users.

The most common way I know of to date, is the YouTube video approach. Where you lure people in with the promise of a cool game to the music of your favourite song to date. This is all well and good, but we all know the general population of YouTube isn't exactly super fantastic ("[expletive deleted] life. shes liek 15 and totally bangable by any adult. our [expletive deleted] social system is way out of wack. she can have babies! lets get our [expletive deleted] straight!", anyone?).

So anyway, with while pondering this question in my head and wikipediaing my way though a website Popisfizzy linked me too. I accidentally stumbled upon this page.

I was perplexed to see such a page for a BYOND game. In fact, when I first saw it I figured Mitadake High was a copy of another game someone else had already come up with (which may still be the case, I'm still none-the-wiser) until I read this: "Web-based multiplayer light-roleplaying murdermystery game that runs through the BYOND client".

Needless to say, congratulations to Devourer Of Souls for either setting that up yourself, or attracting the right fan-base to do it for you. $respect['devourerofsouls']++;

So, what about the rest of you? Where are your BYOND game advertisements on popular and interesting websites? Hmm?
I use the sprites-inc forums http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/forum/ as they are basically a Megaman forum (though recently Castlevania) to advertise my Megaman Game. Though I often don't get constructive criticism because these people don't understand that BYOND isn't Flash or Game Maker, It has still attracted some players.
Surprised to see myself mentioned in a post I happened to click on the Member Page! :) One of the players set that page up, but one of my staffers on another game linked me to the page about a week ago. It was quite flattering to see someone would go to that trouble, and it was equally amusing to read all of the tropes listed.

Just to clear out your non-wiseyness, the game isn't a copy of another game. It was the pool of ideas of myself and a handful of regulars on another game of mine that eventually saw the light of day.

Ah, very good. Improve the opening sequence a bit and you'll have something I respect. =)

(I have a hatred for input() prompts that aren't: as null|color).
I'm afraid of advertising my game... Nintendo is known not to be nice :(
I usually just post my game on this website. SOME people seem to come and play it.....

But, on a serious note... Where exactly would we advertise our games >.<? It seems pretty much impossible enless we want to spend some money(hints why advertisment is a booming business).
I dont know how Disney and Square Enix would take it if i advertised my fan-game, or any other company for my other fan games i've made and such..and anything i make isnt even worth showing..
Well, I need constant reminder apparently that advertising is a key part of publishing.

After I work out a few more bugs and perf issues with 'Tower Defense: Clone Wars', I intended to go on an advertising campaign. Not because I believe the game is all that worthy of such and effort but mostly for the advertising experience and for getting more folks to Byond if I can.
