What type of training do you enjoy that doesn't involve clicking a key as fast as possible? Would you like a certain type of training to be implemented in your favorite game? If so, tell me.

Training systems I have set up:
  • A bar moves up and down, you have to press a key when it reaches the middle
  • A key (either Q, W, E, A, S, D, Z, X, or C) pops up on screen and you press the corresponding key quickly to gain EXP. If you're too slow or hit the wrong key, you lose exp
  • (Being implemented): A system where you click a moving target, pretty simple, you get the idea

I would love your ideas, the more I have the more examples I can offer for the community.
Not an anime fan, but I prefer the bar over the keys, all things considered with my keyboard rearrangement. :p

Well, BYOND doesn't really have a high enough speed to handle the bar very well; it's a rather crappy system when played out at 10 FPS (wait, doesn't BYOND only update skins every half second? I guess it's 2 FPS).
None of the above. A game where you get exp for fighting and doing quests would be ideal. Screw boring, crappy grind training.
I believe you're giving them too much credit. I really don't think they are capable of doing non-pbag related activities.
Third option pl0x.

Well, the point is to give them more options than that, because, as Popisfizzy said, they're pretty limited. I do want to program in some more advanced player vs. player setups and some smart AI (it should respond to smell, sound, and real visual stimuli). However, I also want to give the unintelligent children to be able to enjoy their game.
Why would you want those players in the first place? Besides, most of them only want training methods like that because it's incredibly easy to to ez-macro/script/bot them up to essentially auto-train themselves.

I don't want the players. This is going to be an open source anime game starter, like Masterdan's, except better and with more content (ex. advanced event handling, etc.)
Oh, well... meh. I still think it should focus on people actually playing a game than sitting in a spot for a few hours clicking a button.

You mean games like Finale?

I suppose, but Finale is terrible for other reasons.

It will be a little more mind crunching than that, keep in mind :P. It's also relatively hard to cheat on these methods (besides the bar method, though you could put a little more security in it), so you're pretty safe on that front.
How about a spelling test?
"hit the wrong key, you lose exp"

No.

Just no.
I LIEK MUDKIPZ!!!!!!!!!

MASTERDAN IS TE MOST BESSES PROGRAMMAASIR EVR, HIS GAME IS TE BESS GEAM ON BY9OND! AND HE LES UZ DONATE TO HIM ON HIZ PEWAG.
<Epic sarcasm>
Anyway I look forward to seeing an actually good open anime source. Not that UI'll be using it since everyone on BYOND is a narutard. Noone likes Soul Eater,Street fighter,Scryed , or Inuyasha. They just like to be SHINOBI. >+>

Well, otherwise people could just spam all the keys with a script. This way you need to be decent with another language to actually write up a bot for it. The only method that has potential for spamming is the bar method of training, and I'm trying to find a way around it.
Remove "training" from the game and put in a reasonable level cap.

It's not a game, it's an open source "starter" for the community. I do have a level cap, I plan on adding smart AI and more fun ways to level up, but the BYOND community has a tendency to like boring things. I'm trying to give them slightly less boring but still repetitive training, as well a more intelligent way of leveling up.
