1) Do you believe that 0.999... (that is, a 0 followed by an infinite, unending series of 9's, after the decimal point) is exactly equal to the integer 1?

2) Do you believe that it is mathematically possible to differentiate between sets containing infinite amount of numbers?

3) Do you believe that the speed of light is constant to all observers? Do you believe that it is impossible to travel at or faster than the speed of light so long as you have a real, finite mass?

4) Do you believe that how you interpret time and space is relative to both your location in a gravitational field and your speed relative to the speed of light?

5) Do you believe that the universe was formed from an infinitely dense point containing all space, time, and energy, and that prior to this the concepts of space and time were meaningless?

6) Do you believe that life evolved from non-life through abiogenesis of some sort, and that humans are the result of billions of years of evolution involving creatures adapting to their environment, so as to increase their chances of reproducing and spreading their traits to the next generation?

7) Do you believe that all matter is both a wave and a particle, depending on how it is observed?

8) Do you believe the Monty Hall Problem?

9) Do you believe a scientific theory can be proven?
Hint: If you answered "no" to any of these (or "yes" for the last one), you have some learning to do. If you answered "no" to more than half of these (or had about half plus "yes" to the last one), you are in big trouble. If you answered "no" to all of these (and "yes" to the last one), you are irredeemably stupid.
No.
No.
NO!
Totally not.
Absolutely not.
Possibly, I guess.
No. It's either one or the other. Anyone who says otherwise is dumb, obviously.
Too many fractions. I quit reading halfway through.
Lawls @ Divine
1) So long as 1/3 * 3 = 1, .999... will be 1.

2) Yes

3) You're going to have to clarify number 3. By travel, do you mean merely get from point A to point B, or do you mean to actually move through space the classical way?

4) Yes.

5) Yes to the first half, no to the second half because there's the possibility that the multiple-universes theory is valid.

6) Yes, but you forget the possibility that alien intervention could have allowed humanity to evolve from chimps in a mere few million years.

7) Yes.

8) Yes.
I thought the MH problem was wrong, but Wikipedia set me straight :/

I obviously meant that one can never attain speed that is faster than c.

5) Yes to the first half, no to the second half because there's the possibility that the multiple-universes theory is valid.

I meant the concepts of space in time in this universe were meaningless, because space nor time nor the universe existed.

Also, if you're referring to the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, that's an entirely different can of worms altogether. If you're talking about something like the string theory landscape, string theory isn't really a scientific theory yet, by the definition of falsifiability. If you're referring to multiverse stuff, that's largely metaphysical bullshit and irrelevant to the magical world I call reality.

6) Yes, but you forget the possibility that alien intervention could have allowed humanity to evolve from chimps in a mere few million years.

I was talking about things that aren't ridiculously inane. Given that we have both fossil evidence of the "steps" and that each one is physically adapted for the environment they were in, this is largely conspiracy bullshit. If no one noticed, all my stuff was talking about the world we live in, not a fanciful one.
PiF, okay, I'm partially stupid.

Why is #2 yes?

Georg Cantor. :P

To be more specific, set theory and infinite sets.

Thanks PiF... good quiz btw!
1. lets round up.
2. lawl infinite isnt a real number.
3. They did it in star trek so fuck it.
4. How you determine time is based on your watch not gravity stoopid.
5. See: Jesus
6. God made 2 people and put them in a garden which I'm guessing was Earth, he told the girl not to eat a fruit, but the dumb bitch did anyway. She shat out the fruit and the fruit danced and rapped and that led to other races ITT black people...Or at least that's what the racist christians tell me.
7. I havent observed it.
8. I dont believe wikipedia.
9. no lawl, everyone knows science is just a bunchof whitecoats guessing about stuff when it's clearly all there in the bible.
1) You guys were arguing about this in the forums. I forget what the result was, though, and this math is above me at the moment.

2) Yes, it seems logically possible.

3) a) Unsure, I'd guess yes. b) Yes

4) Yes

5) Yes. Though didn't time exist prior to the Big Bang? Therefore, wouldn't it be possible that it did have some sort of meaning? Or does time not apply to the multiverse and other universes?

6) Yes, to argue this is absolutely stupid.

7) Yes, my friend was explaining some physics his brother taught him an hour and a half ago when we were coming home from skiing.

8) I didn't really understand the puzzle itself from skimming the article, nor do I really have enough time to read the article fully at the moment.

9) No, a theory can only be disproved.
